Default Ketosis in a day

I was on induction during January. I tested with strips then and was in ketosis on the morning of day 2 of induction. Of course, I thought this was a fluke.

My DH was hospitalized for a couple weeks, and stress got the better of me, so I bombed.

I started induction yesterday. Last night before bed (around 9pm) I tested and they were negative for ketones. This morning I tested at around 9am and they are positive.

Am I a freak of nature that I get into ketosis so quickly?

If you are then I am too, I did a refeed a week and a half ago on Monday, had a bunch of carbs including lots of sugar. By Tuesday night before bed I had a trace reading of ketosis back.

You and me both. Then I ate some pumpcorn (pumpkin seeds with spices) and stopped ketosis as fast as it started.

Hi acwakip!

I too am a freak of nature (nothing wrong with being a freak, I hope). I am always in ketosis according to the strips, even if I binge on carbs. If by some fluke I manage to pop myself out of ketosis, I am ALWAYS in ketosis by morning. I thought it was impossible, but my body seems to prefer ketosis to normal metabolism now (it started before I'd been LC for a year).

So glad I'm not the only one!

P.S. I hope your DH is okay now!

I have found if I cheat hardly at all, I go out of ketosis. But if I behave myself, it just takes me about a half a day to get back to moderate ketosis according to the strips. I usually only use them once a day in the morning, but I've experimented with them lately to see what it takes to pull me out of it. I too was suprised at how fast I got back into it....

Hope your DH is doing fine!

When I was using the strips, I almost never showed ketosis...yet I lost 30 pounds in 6 months on Atkins. Everyone's different.

Hi Tholian! According to the GO-diet people (who, incidentally lied about carbs in yogurt), the strips only test one of several kinds of ketones, which explains why some people rarely or never show purple. How true it is, however, I dunno. My faith in the GO-diet people has been shaken.
