Default Vegetarian Nandos Choices

I am posting this again - in case Nandos is just a UK chain.

My friend and I who love low-carbing, often go to Nandos for a meal out. We have another friend who is Vegetarian, and has also started to low-carb, does anyone know if there are any half decent vegetarian choices? Other than plain salad.

Their website shows Vegetarian Burgers and Bean Burgers - but their nutritional information shows this at around 30g carbs a portion - but I am wondering if this is with the Pitta/Bun??? If so, then hopefully it won't be too high?

Anyone know anything on this please.

Many thanks.
Helen.

I believe that Nando's is a South-African company based on a Portuguese concept so I would imagine that there are resteraunts elsewhere. Unfortunately the beans used to make bean burgers are usually haricot beans and so contain about 45g of carb per 100g making them a poor choice for a low-carb meal .

Default Nandos

Nandos have just come back to me - they were very quick with their email response...

The carb counts are WITH the bun, so at 21g for the Veggie Burger and 30g for the Veggie Pitta - it seems like they are not such bad choices afterall. As I would have thought at least 20g of these counts would be for the BUN/PITTA.

They have another option which is the Bean Burger, which I discounted for the reason that it was made with Beans, so therefore, wouldn't be such a good choice for someone just embarking on a low-carb regime. (But would well be OK for someone wishing to maintain).

So its seems like it is fairly good news! as long as she sticks to the Vegetarian Burger and NOT the Bean Burger.
