Hi there,

Kinda a random not totally LC related question....however I am wondering if any one in this forum has been to or lives on Bowen Island? I have a job interview there next week and I am just trying to locate some information about the community etc...and if the job interview goes well, perhaps some information on lifestyle over there etc.

so if anyone has two-bits I'd love to hear it!!

Well I'm not an expert on it, but you can sure count on a slower pace then Nan.

My uncle used to own a bed and breakfast there years ago. He loved it there. But, that's all I can say about it cuz I've never been before.

Hey Saweetie! I have a few friends that live over on Bowen full-time and part-time. Its a very small place - but with regular ferry service (but only until 9 or 10PM)....plenty of people live over there and work in Vancouver. No highschool - so kids take ferry off island to West Van every day. Its not for everyone as it is a bit isolated - only a restaurant or two, legion and a couple of other stores. Great if you like quiet and doing things on the water.

There must be lots of peole who read this who know it better than I do but I love the place. Been several times for a day but only once stayed a long weekend. Lovely location, slower pace except in the summer and on long weekends when its busy with tourists. There are lots of nice little shops (some only open in summer), pubs, restaurants, B & Bs, a great marina and the Union Steamship Company which runs a pub and the nicest cabins/boathouse accomodations. Beautiful parks and of course tons of beaches. Lucky you going over there. Hope you get the job.

I've never been, I Had kinda thought some of the things you mentioned!! I go for the interview on Tuesday and that will be my first visit over there...

My main concern would be if I got the job would I be able to live there...or would I have to commute tp the island....what would I do for my Low Carb stuff...sinso anyways, its just an interview...
