Question, Dan. I typically have a 1/2 cup of coffee prior to my workout at 5:45 am. Should I discontinue?

Thx,
Nat

Diddo Dan....I wish these posts were dated...I had the same question as Nat. I currently drink 2 cups of caffeinated coffee with 1/2 & 1/2. Is this a positive thing to do or negative. I do have a significant amount of weight to loose. I know just doing my daily cardio is a positve thing but I don't want to start with negative habits. If need be I can cut out the small amount of carbs but I do love that caffeine in the a.m.!

THanks!
Marg

Marg, the posts are dated - look at the top of the post on the left right above the username of the poster.

FYI, I've been doing the whipping cream in half a cup of coffee for 2 years now and I don't think it's hurt my progress.

Nat

In my case I find that when I run on an empty stomach my performance drops. I prefer to eat a high protein breakfast, let the food settle a bit, and then run as fast as I can without passing 90% MHR.

This thread was exactly the sort of information I was looking for. Many thanks to J.K. for sending me here. I should have looked up at sticky threads to begin with. I just did a search for "afternoon excercise" and that wasn't much help. :P

It looks as though the routine that I'm most comfortable with, of a bit of coffee and excercising before breakfast, is the way to go afterall. Now I just have to pick up the pace to something that would be considered a respectable cardio workout. An hour on the bike is good but I know I can push myself more. And I need to eat breakfast more quickly than I have been after excercising. I've been waiting for up to four hours or so before eating after working out. Not a good idea, I guess. Now I know!

Thank you to all who've contributed to this thead and a special thanks to Trainerdan for the great info and the pic of his abs. :P
