Hi and welcome.
I find a lot of low carb items at larger grocery stores. IGA and Safeway both carry Atkins muffin mixes, pancake mixes, syrup and Advantage bars. You will find these in the pharmacy sections and I have also seen the baking items in the baking section of non-pharmacy stores. Walmart carries sugar free Ross chocolate bars and other sugar-free items in their pharmacies and in the candy section you can usually find sugar-free Baskin and Robbins candy. I find they have excellent prices on things like cream and whipping cream. Superstore carries Atkins Advantage bars and other low-carb items in their pharmacy. They also have sugar-free Chapman's ice cream with the other ice creams. Costco carries Atkins Advantage bars and I recently saw a low-carb 'crunch' bar by Genisoy available their (I haven't tried the Genisoy bar yet, but plan to buy some my next trip after reading some favourable reviews here). Save-On Foods, IGA and I believe Safeway all carry the Healthy Way brand 'Carb-Conscious' bread. Planet Organic (just south of whyte Ave on Calgary Trail carries a line of low carb items from Lakeview bakery including a bread, 'nutty' bread, cinnamon loaf, foccacia and pizza shells. I find they are sometimes hit and miss with what is in stock, frustrating if you don't live in this part of the city and make a trip there, but a call ahead can help with that (433-6807). Again depending which part of the city you are in, Londonderry Mall has a health food store (sorry, can't remember the name) located close to the Save-On Foods, I think, that carries low-carb pasta, tortillas and other items. Also, I found 'Botticelli' brand sugar-free chocolate bars at The Army and Navy in Londonderry Mall for 1.49 (the lowest price I've seen...usually 1.99 at London Drugs) Which brings me to London Drugs, they carry Atkins bars, mixes and chocolates, I have also seen Carbolite brand items (cookies, chocolate and shake powders) at their South Edmonton Common location. I don't know if all locations are consistent with the products they carry, so I wouldn't want to say they all carry them. If you look in the diabetic section in the pharmacy at London Drugs you will also find an assortment of other sugar-free candies. Carol's Quality Sweets 12519 102 ave (not far from the Mountain Equipment Co-op) carries a great assortment of sugar-free products that you don't see many other places, both candy and 'Steels' brand products. The staff at Carol's also seems pretty knowledgeable about the products they carry too. The cinnamon candies, Licorice drops and Jelly Bellies are my personal faves. A friend was at the Boston Pizza on 97 st. around 125th or so avenue and they had a whole page dedicated to low-carb items on their menu. I don't know if they all do, as I couldn't find any info online about it. Hope this info helps and it's nice to see another Edmonton low-carber around. Happy shopping!

Has anyone found DaVinci SF syrups in Edmonton?

Just to add a couple of things to the last extensive list...I have found almond flour (ground almonds) in the bulk section at Save-on and wheat gluten in the speciality (natural) food section at IGA. Have found xanthum and guar gums at a health food store in Sherwood Park but let my fingers do the walking for that first.

I haven't found DaVinci syrups, but I have found Torani syrup (sweetened with Splenda). The Bay has a pretty good selection for a decent price. The small bottles are 6.95.
I bought the gold card at GNC on the weekend. You pay 15$ per year and save a decent amount on their products. I picked up banana nut muffin mixes on special for 5.19. The first week of the month you save 20% when you are a gold member. I agree some of their stuff seems expensive, but there are some deals to be found and they do have a wide selection (at least the South Edmonton Common location did).
Someone also told me they saw Protein Platters at local McDonalds.

The new store, Low Carb Gallery is located at 10431 51 Ave. That's the south side of 51 Ave east of southgate mall by Londaon Drugs. The store hours are posted as 11 to 6 weekdays, noon - 4 Sundays and I can't remember Saturdays. I went yesterday and actually waited about 10 or 15 mins as the store opened late. But I think the wait was worth it. There are both Da Vinci and Torrine (sp?) syrups, a coffee pot set up with tasters/samplers of the syrups at hand, soy tortilla chips, b-bque sauces, ketchups, all kinds of candies, pizza crust mix, fresh baked breads and more. Nothing was inexpensive but I don't think the prices were really high either.

I also got a Steel's caramel sauce which is gooey, thick and rich. I've posted on the kitchen help for a caramel type thing so when I saw this, I bought it! Last night I melted some butter and chocolate, threw in some Splenda and whipping cream and poured it into small muffin papers in tins. Put in the freezer. Heated some of my caramel sauce. Poured it over the hardened chocolate and froze again. Voila, a reasonable facsimile of caramilks. YUM!!

PS The store lists a website at www.lowcarbgallery.com Haven't checked it out yet but will as soon as I'm done here.

Thumbs down

LCG is not bad if price isnt an option.. if you shop around you can find better prices on almost everything they carry..i personally make my own syrups (like Divinci) for a fraction of what they charge..

I visited The Low Carb Gallery last weekend. While I agree some of their prices seem high, it was nice to have so much selection. I bought a chili pepper sauce (6.99 for a 300 ml bottle) and it is excellent served alongside a nut crusted pork loin chop. I also bought a package of tortillas and they are excellent also (I think around 6$ for a pkg. of 10). They have the Genisoy crunch bars there, but at 2.99 per bar they are much cheaper at Costco (15 for 19.99). I will shop there for the occasional item and for things that I don't see anywhere else, again it's just nice to go to one place and have such a wide selection.

Default low carb cereal

I bought some delicious low carb hot cereal at The Big Fresh on Jasper. I also got soy flour, soy pasta and pizza crust mix that can be used as garlic fingers if I want to make them instead. Interested to check out this low carb gallery place but it's an hour drive for me. Maybe some weekend.
