Default Get in the habit of reading the carbs on the box!

I'm not saying count your carbs religiously, like Atkins.

I'm just saying that there are hidden carbs in EVERYTHING!

For example, the difference in breakfast cereals:

Before I started SBD, I was going to "DO IT ON MY OWN"...yeah right.

So I went out and bought some "Natural" and "Healthy" Granola Cereal. What could be healthier than that? Right?

57 GRAMS OF CARBS PER CUP!

Now that I'm educated in the ways of Dr. Agatston. I eat either Hi-Lo (5 grams) or Kellogs All-Bran Extra Fiber (8 grams).

The Kellogs is better tasting. The Hi-Lo actually tastes a little like sawdust. But I still like it.

Keep reading those labels so you aren't deceived!

I agree. I look mostly for added sugar contributions when it comes to carbs. Then if those aren't too bad, like 4 or less, I look at where the others come from. If they come from the wheat mostly and I sutract the fiber and it is satisfactory, then I don't feel too guilty!

During Phase 1, I limited my carbs to 25 grams per day.

I know.....I know.......Dr. Agatston says you don't need to count carbs.

But I'm a very detail-oriented, rather obsessive person. And it worked great for me.

28 pounds on Phase 1 (sayed on P1 for a month).....

I am still restricting carbs even after 3 months. Now I stay under 50 grams per day.

BeastWoman, everyone is different when it comes to carb intake. I upped my carb intake and actually feel like I have stalled out a bit. So I think I am going to go back to phase 1 for a week, then do what they do on Atkins - up my carbs every week. (Though I think I'll go for 10g a week instead of 5, since you eat more carbs on SB anyways). That way, I can get a better idea of how much carb-y stuff I can eat and still lose weight.

Honestly, you guys, it's not so much the amount of carbs you take in. It is where they're coming from. If it's from sugar it is definitely bad. If not, then at least make sure it's whole grain!! I don't write mine down anymore, but I keep a ballpark number in my head!
