Unhappy Mummy tummy...

Outside of sit ups and Atkins, has anyone else found a good way to get rid of the post pregnancy 'mummy tummy'? You know how people describe their body shapes? i have a new one - a cylinder!

P.S. plastic surgery is not an option!

I wish I knew! Two c-sections later and my tummy is a *little* more round than I like it to be!! If I find any ideas, I'll post them for you!

I found this page a long time ago. Haven't tried it myself yet. But it seems like an interesting, alternative making-sense approach to regular sit-ups.

Talking Cool site!

There are some pretty good exercise on that site, if I don't have to see the inside of a gym for another 50 lbs, I'll be ecstatic!!

Yes, I've surfed through Teresa Tapp's excercises and saved them down on my computer, for future reference. What I like about them is that they seem so simple, and many elder people (which I am not although I feel like one at points...) with joint etc problems can also do them. Soft for the body...

There are also discussion boards on that site, as well as a "God Made/Man Made" diet programme. T. Tapp is not particularly friendly towards the Atkins plan though, in fact, she has bashed it quite roughly on her forum. That doesn't make her exercise scedule any lamer, though.

Thumbs up

Unreal! I will give these a burst as the sit ups are a bit rough on my neck. i like the idea of putting your organs back in place. Having them all pulled out during a caesarian section and 'chucked' back in place (I am not kidding) could cause a lot of displacement. I will let you know if they make a difference. The others look like a pretty good way to improve to keep you fit for bonking too!!! For everyones sake I won't let you know about that!!!

LOL, Leanne...

Yes please, by all means. Get back to us with a report (well, on the first matter, I mean) as it would be most interesting to see if it actually works!

Cheers!

I have had two c-sections, have been lc'ing for almost 3 yrs now, and exercising and weight training regularly (min.4 times a week) for almost 2 yrs. AND my abs are flat! (Wish I could be as happy with my butt and thighs but that is another thread!) First, weight loss plus muscle strengthening is the only way to work on abs. Second, every group of muscles has an opposing set of muscles which must be worked on at the same time. With the abs it is the back muscles. Core strengthening (as in Pilates or any set of exercises that work on core strengthening) is the key to ab strength. Look into an exercise ball. I am sure you have seen the big ones (they are about $15 at TJMaxx). Crunches are easier and more effective when done on the exercise ball. I keep mine in my bedroom closet and do three sets of 20 before bed each night (you really should only work the same group of muscles every other day but I am obsessive ) There are far worse places that can get stretched out and out of shape during childbirth (though granted it doesn't show in a bathing suit the way your abs do). It is a slow and long process so don't look for results immediately but in a few months you will notice a difference.
