Second knee surgery? Ouch! Glad to hear you're back up and about...

So, from those in Chicagoland, how about some other suggestions regarding fun things to do (other than watch Korry ride a bull in a chicken suit)? June should be getting warmer, right? What does everyone think about a short party cruise on the lake? Would that cost a lot of money to rent/charter a boat for a few hours?

Ok - I'm officially pulling out the CPR and resuscitating this thread...

I've been looking for tickets on airlines - but unfortunately, most of them don't let you book out this far in advance. Anyone else been looking?

Ok - Hmmm...let's get this thing going again...
What's your number one reason (or top few reasons) for wanting to go to Chicago?

#1 - (aside from the fact that I've wanted to go there for a really really long time) I'm excited to get to meet up with all of the amazing people who have helped me through this ongoing process. It will be awesome to actually get to see some of you in person and interact.

#2 - I want to strut my newer body in a new city - hee hee!

#3 - To see Carbs skinnydip in Lake Michigan (which he has specified will only happen if everyone is a little intoxicated, and there are NO CAMERAS around - hahaha!! )

#4 - To see Korry on a mechanical bull.

Anyone else???

Thanks, Soon. I was hoping everyone would forget that I said that. Being a man of my word, however, I'll do it (as long as the above stipulations are met), but Soon has to go too! She just has to be at her goal weight of 170lbs. But, seeing as she's doing so well, there's no chance she won't make it!

Right Soon...?

hahaha - I might just have to eat a few low-carb chocolates to maintain around 175...LOL!!! hee hee - I'd be so excited to be at 170 - I'd probably want to show it all off. But I'll be wearing arm floaties - I hear it's much harder to swim when you don't have so much fat (before I started the diet - I could float without having to do anything - now I think it would be more of a struggle).

Okay, some tips for buying tickets...

I've traditionally found the best fares by searching the airlines websites directly. The online travel consolidators have to make a profit somewhere. In the event you find a flight you want, and it's booked solid on the website, try the consolidators then, then try calling the airline... They allocate a specific number of seats to the web, to travel agents, and to direct booking, if one is full, try another.

Searching this far out isn't gonna get you a great deal. You want to look somewhere between 2 months and 2 weeks from the travel date. Watch the flights during that time, and you will see the prices will change every few days. This is where the fun comes in, since they can go up or down, and I still haven't figured out a pattern. just make sure you aren't booking later than 2 weeks before the trip, that is when prices sky-rocket to punish the late bookers (business travelers).

I'm hoping to be able to join in the fun, but it depends on some business issues... I travel a lot of work in the summer, including a lot of weekend activities. I won't know for a couple months.

Nowonder - thanks for the tips!!!! I'll be sure to start looking around the 2 month mark!

We would love to have you join up with us - I really hope that you can get away for the trip (at least the weekend!!!).

I'm going to put in for the days off from work this week. Nothing like requesting early!!! And then I'll start looking into airfare when we get a little closer to the dates.
nw - thanks for the tips. I'll be sure to use those when looking.

As for my reasons for wanting to go.......

Of course Carbs skinny dipping is up there at the top of the list!
And I just love hitting new cities and letting loose for a couple days..... especially with friends.
It will be great to meet everyone in person after talking on these boards for so long.
And we will all be looking really hot by then so we will be a knock out group!!!

Cheers,
Gypsy
