Default Water??

I know that everyone advocates high water consumption. I was wondering if there was a specific reason for it. I think that I read somewhere that it takes 2 water molecules to attach to fat and take it out which is water=weight loss.
Could someone please clarify for me?

I think of it as peeing out fat. I think what you said is true that you need water to bind to the fat molecules to let them leave your body. I find that the more water I drink the more weight I lose...Plus you need to be really hydrated to be healthy anyway

You know, I would LOVE to see some hard science on this (you know, actual research STUDIES, and not just unsubstantiated claims!).

I know that dehydration is NOT a good thing, but claims like "the majority of the population wanders the earth in a perpetual state of dehydration", stuff like that, well, it sounds kinda SILLY without actual PROOF to back up these claims.

Myself? I still drink my gallon of H2O everyday. I feel better, things "move" better in my body and I miss it when I DON'T get enough.

There simply HAS to be some Poindexter out there that has done dehydration studies SOMEWHERE. I have yet to find them, though!

Well we know the ULTIMATE consequence of ULTIMATE dehydration = death. So our bodies (which are mostly water anyway) need it to function on every level.

But I agree there has be some actual substantiated studies on what level of water intake helps us function BEST.

Part of it is to remove toxins from the body. As for weight loss it does help with water retention. When your not drinking enough your body will hang on to what it has.

As for how much, that varies by person. I was dirnking over 500oz of water a day, but because I was taking suppliments with caffine I was still very dehydrated. I found this out when I tried to donate plasma. Now I am drinking less water, but have cut out almost all cafine and any dehydrating suppliments.

If you drink alot of coffee, tea, herbal tea, or take suppliments with caffine such as green tea, then you need more water. Also if you have alot of processed foods and a high sodium intake.

I drink around 100oz per day. In fact my wife bought me a mini water cooler for Christmas, at Toys R Us of all places, that holds 2.5 liters or about 80oz. It cools the water as well.

Also, this recent post mentions water consumption and thermogenesis.

Yes! There is a thread here that is "are you drinking enough water"

Water pushes "stuff" out, keeps the skin glowing, and helps you lose the weight, and us females with our salty cravings during the cycle.... well... i think this is self explanatory!
