Default Oroweat Carb Counting Bread

Was thrilled to find this at my local Safeway. Nutition Facts show 1 slice at 60 calories and 6 net carbs. Haven't tried it yet but it says 100% whole wheat so I'm hopeful it will have a better texture and taste than Atkins or O-so-lo. Don't intend to eat on a daily basis but use as a treat when I'm short on my daily carb count and can afford 6 more. Great news about Subways wraps in an earlier post today - for if and whenever I get to maintenance.

Hi there,

I saw that exact bread a few months ago at my local Safeways. Naturally, I picked it up for peanut butter, roast beef, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Ever notice the best condiment for butter & mayo will always be bread? LOL

It wasn't bad, so far as wheat bread goes, which has never been a favorite of mine. I've always liked white bread.

I've found that buttering it, then lightly toasting it on a pan or toaster makes the bread much more palatable. It softens it up making it taste less like lower carb bread.

Either way, for the carb price, can't beat it. Enjoy!

Frederick

I eat it all the time. It is a bit dry but it tastes pretty good. If you should see Pepperidge Farm lc bread, getit. It is quite good! I found it once in Ohio at the Super K, last summer...I haven't seen it since.

Sara Lee now has a white and a wheat low carb bread -- seems very promising!

They just got it in at my local safeways. It looks a tad fuller then the ATkins loaves I have in the freezer. It's twice the carbs though :\

I almost bought some to try, but like I said there's Atkins in the freezer so I should wait until I finish one before buying more

Natural Ovens Bakery makes a low carb bread. 3 net carbs per slice, total 8 carbs. I get it at my local grocery store (Econo Foods) in the refridgerator section. It tastes great, just like normal whole grain bread. Don't care for the Atkins bread. It does have crystalline corn fructose listed in the ingredients.

I saw on the evening news, tonight, about how many bread companies are waking up to low carb. Orowheat and Sarah Lee were mentioned. But, honest to God, if you see Pepperidge Farms Lite Bread, getit!
