Default I am so confused!

Okay I got the Atkins catalog in the mail today and there are all kinds of food products that they have marked as safe for induction but they are NOT on the acceptable foods list ... so can I have them or not??? I am most interested in the bread mixes and LC tortillas

I would follow the book. It was written by Dr. Atkins as the best way to get the best results from this way of life. I would leave the frankenfoods out of my eating plan completely (this is just what I do - what you do is up to you), but particularly out of the first two week induction period. As for the Atkins catalog - it's called "marketing." They're now in the business of making money, not making folks healthy. Dr. Atkins developed this way of eating and wrote his books with the idea of making folks healthy - not hauling down the big bucks selling us frankenfoods. The best course to healthiness and weight reduction is to eat whole natural foods only. This is just MHO.

I do, upon occasion, eat the low carb tortillas because I love quesadillas, and I do follow low carb recipes for making breads and so forth using whey protein powder, and will occasionally use Splenda to make a dessert, but I leave the rest of the low carb products alone. There are a lot of low carb recipes out there that use these two products that end up making a much tastier end result than those bread mixes. (I don't know that from personal experience but a friend of mine has tried it both ways and thinks the bread mixes make HORRIBLE bread.)

i would follow the book also , at least until induction is over, i tried a few of the lc bars while on induction and it slowed my weight loss down. some people have no trouble with them but others do, i dont want you to get discouraged before you get going....

Hi there..If you eat low carb things that are not on the list it will hurt you in the long run. Your weight will come off slow as molasses. Wait for the induction period is over and then try it out and see if it slowes you down. Induction is a time for your body to get rid of all the bad carbs. Let it run its course and then you may not want that stuff in the Catol. I do not eat any Atkins products, and do not miss anything I used to eat at all.

I agree with everyone else. My advice would be to follow the book during induction. I followed it "to the letter" and had great results. Two weeks is a short time and I think it makes all the difference in the long run. Good luck and merry Christmas!

ditch the catalog!!!! La Tortillas are not frankenfood for future reference they are made with wheat... someday when you choose too they are an excellent bread substitute.
