Default What kind of scales?

I keep reading about half lb. losses - sometimes tenths - what kind/brand scales are people using? I have a Health-O-Meter and in a week's time, can lose and gain back 3 lbs. but understand if you move them a lot (I do - have a small bathroom), it can screw up their accuracy. I always weigh in the a.m. after getting rid of all that excess poundage in my bladder, nekked - and usually weigh 3-4 lbs. more if I have a weigh in at Dr.'s or health club (fully dressed, I should add). Curious - what's the best?

I have the Health-o-meter Bodyfat Monitor scale. It measures to the tenth-pound, is wider and more stable than my old scale (consistant no matter if I move it or not)and it gives a pretty accurate measure of your bodyfat percent. It was under $50 at KMart, and since, I've seen it go even lower.

I use the Tanita Family Model digital Scale plus Body Fat Monitor; BF-681 can weigh up to 330lbs and can even tell you how many calories you can eat to maintain your current weight that day pretty nifty.

I have a cheap Norelco scale that i bought at Sam's Club about a million years ago. It measures whole pounds and half pounds. I think I paid $20 for it.

I Have a Salter Strain Gauge scale it was pricey 125 but when I bought it I couldnt find any scales that would weigh me I was over 330lbs, Plus I wanted to see the large digital screen.

I think any scale would work. My sister read somewhere that its best to find one that is strain gauge.

I hate to be ornery (actually, I'm rather fond of it . . . ) but I prefer to stay away from the scales altogheter. I don't think there is really any such thing as a half or tenth of a pound loss. Our weights go up and down day after day, and what one weighs can depend on what one has eated, level of dehydration, etc.

Also,l being stuck on regular weighing can cause heartache and stress, and may not contribute to the success of your WOE. I try not to be hung up on my weight, and only weigh myself once every two or three weeks. When I do weigh myself it is always about the same time of day, the same day of the week, and the same scale (at the gym). I try to keep the conditions of each weighing as consistant as possible, and if the scale is off it will be off by as much this weeks as it was two weeks again when last I weighed myself.

Fran McCullough has a good bit on the perils of weighing oneself regularly in her book =Low Carb Living=, a very good book that you way want to check out. It has some good basic tips for LC living, compares the plans, and offers some recipes.

Cheers, Robert

I bought a Taylor from walmart. New so I cant really recommend it yet, but seems to match the scales at the store.
