Default so much protein, so much urination

I am eating up a storm, started with prime ribs and lobster tails....dripping in butter.......woooooo hoooooo, it was great.
Eating salad, chicken, deviled eggs like crazy.

One problem, although I am sleeping better I keep running to urinate every ten minutes until I fall asleep.

Anyone else on induction have increased urination?

With the increase in water that you should be drinking, the increase in urination makes sense.

One thing, I don't think lobster is a good thing. I kindof remember that it is to be limited or restricted? I don't eat shellfish, so I did not pay too much attention,,,,but it is ringing a bell?!?

Default increased urination

Thanx for the replies Adnil and giggles.
I am drinking some water, hope coffee and ice tea
count as water too. My hubby and I both find this to
be easy so far. We are never hungry, just sort of wander
around looking in fridge and pantry out of habit...LOL
No cheats yet...Day 4 and doing well.

Lobster is listed as a free food in the Induction section
under shellfish.

Now this Atkins book was copyrighted in 1992, if there is
a contradiction in a newer book, please tell me.

Coffee and iced tea:

Well, I drink diet iced tea with 0 carbs (decaf)...so make sure you are checking the carb count there. And caffeine can slow or stall you. I still have 1 cup of coffee a day, but I have cut out my flavored creamer - whaich was very sad for me.

I agree with you - the idea of soda is not appealing to me at all.

The ice tea I drink is home brewed with decaf and the lemon
slice is off my own tree. I love my ice tea pot and it has given
me many years of service, so if you guys don't have one it is
a must.

I have not baught diet Pepsi lately since the store is out of
caffeine free Pepsi....

When I lived up North I used to buy chocolate soda but
can't find in down here in Florida....I did find on small bottle
but nothing on the label about caffeine.....I guess it must have
some.

Oh well, shutting down to fix some chicken...

Default Have you tried Postum??

I read that you're drinking a cup of coffee per day..

Have you tried Postum? It's only 3 carbs per serving... Use half and half with it and some Splenda and you're low carb all the way!!!

You can find it right next to the coffee at the grocery store. It comes in coffee flavor and regular flavor. I don't know the carb count on the coffee flavor variety though...

For Caffine, I like Diet Dr Pepper. It's the only diet cola that doesn't taste like unsweetened asphault..

Good luck...

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but only water counts as water on this WOE.

Even if Atkins lists lobster as a free food, all shellfish has a few carbs. Just count them as part of your daily intake. You can check it out in the carb counter under Tools.

All the running to the bathroom in the first few days is water weight departing as well as the water you drink.

Coffee is .8 grams for a 6 oz. cup. It can cause insulin spikes for some, and some don't seem to be bothered by it.

You are all well on your way to better health. Congratulations!

Karen

Default soda

Hi..
I have switched to Diet Rite. It is the only diet soda without caffeine and without aspartame. That stuff will kill you! Soda still isn't as good as water, but when you have that craving this soda seems to do the trick.

I used to drink 10-15 cups of coffee a day !! I am now down to 2 cups, but I really need them. I am just so miserable in the morning before I have my coffee and I also get a real energy-slump in the afternoon. I propably could switch to decaff, but what's the point of that ? I also read somewhere, that the decaffination is not very good for health, but I forgot where I had read that. Has anyone any information on that ?

Default Watch out for the ulcers...

It's not the caffine that's so bad for you.. Caffine is what you're addicted to and it's what makes you 'think' that you 'have' to have 2 cups of coffee. If you'd stop drinking it for a week or two, you'd have the energy WITHOUT the coffee. You wouldn't get groggy in the afternoons either.

The BAD part of coffee are the acids in it. They eat your stomach lining and can give you ulcers and other stomach problems over the years...

You'd do good to lose the coffee.. But that's your choice.

Good luck whatever you decide,
Curtis

Caffeine is a diuretic and will affect your system. It is advisable to drink more water if you're going to be consuming drinks that are caffinated. It used to be thought that caffeine caused an insulin reaction but it was later discovered that it was citric acid (found in many soft drinks) that was the culprit.

Caffeine is a YMMV (Your Milage May Vary).

Default potty ALL the time :)

I've just (today) increased my water intake dramatically (32 oz down, 64 oz to go) and I'm in the potty all the time! I've heard that once your body adjusts, it's not as bad though.

So hang in there!
