Question Atkins Indulge Fudge Bars ok for Induction?

I bought these at the store today (2g net carbs/bar), so I was wondering if I can eat them in the Induction phase?

Thanks

Natalie

If they are on the Induction List of foods in your copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book, then Yes.

But they aren't. So the answer is really NO. I know that even the atkins site says that 1 "meal replacement bar" per day is OK but those bars have stalled many an LCer. And the candy bars are even less acceptable. (Both have sugar alcohols. Click on the words "Low Carb Tips" in the orange bar at the top of this page & look for the article on Sugar Alcohols.)

Induction is only 2 weeks. Why not leave the bars (of all kinds) until at least the 3rd week and lose the most you can by sticking to the plan.

I agree with tofi.

A clean induction would include ONLY those foods on the accetable foods list and the bars are not on the list.

Try the first two weeks without and then only add then if you absolutely have to.

The Endulge bars are the candy-bar ones, and no.

The Advantage bars are the meal replacements, and the jury's out on those in induction. I had no problems with them, but some do. It's an individual thing, and given the choice, I'd treat them with caution until I found out for sure they won't cause a problem.

Part of the goal behind induction is to break the sugar cravings. Give yourself a chance and you may find that you don't want or need sweets anymore.

I've learned my lesson when it comes to the word "Endulge" with those ice creams bars. No, no, no! For me that is. Just causes me to stall, big time. However, I leave for Disney Fri. the 12th - 19th. I've packed some Advantage bars with me, just in case I run into a problem. It's going to be rough!!!

If you get a craving for sweets, don't reach for Endulge bars... they're not permitted until OWL... try having 1/2 of an Advantage Bar or other low-carb bar with loads of protein in it. (that's the real difference -- Endulge have no protein by comparison...)

Or... SF Jello? Whipped Cream?

I think those bars are for Phase 2, not Induction
