Default California style cottage cheese?

What is it? I saw it at Publix today, Friendship brand...Whats California style? Also, lowfat/nonfat cottage cheese is less carbs and cal. on fitday..Why are we told by Dr. A to eat whole milk cottage cheese?

Can't help you with the California style cottage cheese.

On the low fat cottage cheese...it comes down to reading labels. There are a few curious things out there where the low fat or light version has a few less carbs. It's not the norm, but it does happen occassionally. The brand of cream cheese I buy has a light version which has less carbs than the regular.

We're told by Dr. A to eat the full fat version because most of the time that's the version that has the fewest carbs. But as with all things..read the label and make the best choice for your way of eating.

A simple search of the net using google.com for the phrase "California style cottage cheese" turned up several sites:

http://www.friendshipdairies.com/pr...tage_cali.shtml

http://starchefs.com/cgi-bin/cheese.pl

Not exactly a definition but it sounds like it's a 4% BF and rather creamy instead of lumpy.
