Default Balancing Carbs With Fat As You Progress

After reading a thread in this forum and then I re-read certain sections of the Atkins Diet Revolution book I learned that as you progress through the various stages you are supposed to cut down on your fat intake while slowly increasing your carbs.

Does this mean I should cut down on all fats or just certain fats? Anyone have any pointers of wisdom on this?

you should start decreasing non essential fats. Butter, sour cream, heavy cream. And keep up with the good fats. Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Safflower Oil, the omega 3's, 6's, & 9's. And absolutely stay away from the bad fats! Hydrogenated oils, margarines, beef & pork tallow, shortening.

Reread the chapters about Stage 3 and Stage 4 again. You must slowly increase the carbs and watch the scale to find your magic carb number.

and watch the scale to find your magic carb number.

Thank you. I thought that cutting down on the non-essential fats might be what was being referred to. That makes this WOE even healthier and very misunderstood by the critics who bash this WOE because they've only read a couple of paragraphs of his book.

I am even more convinced that I made the right choice to follow this plan.

I can only tell you this. I had all of the blood work done before I started. I just had my repeat blood work done after being on the atkins about 8 wks. Not to bore you with details, but my triglerides were 444!!!!!! That was a heart attack waiting to happen. My triglerides are now 82!!!!. My Doctor said, I don't really understand this diet and the vita nutrients stuff, but I want you to continue what you're doing and repeat the blood work in 6 -8 weeks.

And, all of my other numbers changed significantly for the better.

ATKINS WORKS!!!

Why is it that docs keep saying they don't understand why Atkins work to reduce high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetic problem, etc etc???? READ THE BOOK! There are so many people that come to them with those problems. Why can't they get themselves more educated about this??? Sorry for the rant, this just bugs me!
