Default Ever go to bed to avoid eating?

Have you ever gone to bed "early", instead of staying up to watch a TV show , just to avoid that craving for food? Maybe its me, but I have done it several times to avoid falling off the wagon. Not for the all out food assault, just not wanting to bolster the carb limit.

Just wondering if I was a nut, or if others are too?

Yup. Sometimes it's better to "leave the scene of the crime" than to stay up and fight the craving monster...

I used to do that...before I ate low carb...but not anymore, I'm happy to say.
Those late night urges to prowl the cupboards (why do you always crave junk, anyway?) has now utterly vanished.
Thank goodness!

I thought w/this WOE you shouldn't be hungry. That's what I like about it. I never go to bed hungry, but I'm not losing alot of weight ...just a little at a time. If you go to bed hungry it seems like you will wake up weak & shakey.just my opinion. Besides I don't sleep well when I'm not full . Maybe if you just have something to snack on at nite..just a low carb thing to get you past the need to escape.
Pork rinds dipped in sour cream/ mixed w/ salsa is pretty yummy. Also..if I get hungry at nite I warm up the LC left overs ..and have them.
Hope I helped you...

I've noticed that I really don't want to eat after dinner.
I use to be sticking my nose in the cubboards every 1/2 hour ,now I don't gravitate to the kitchen

Yep! I'm guilty of this too. You're not alone. As a matter of fact I wanted to cheat so bad last night. I actually put a cookie in my mouth at a moment of weakness then spit it back out really quick. I finally decided to go to bed because if I didn't I was going to cheat last night.

Rods, I'm wondering since basically you should be on maintenance, why you're so concerned about this. How many carbs are you eating per day? I think if you're actually hungry in the evening you should find something to eat, not just go to bed. Of course if you're just running from the urge, then maybe it would be a good idea to find something legal that could help abate that urge. It seems to me, the longer they go untended, the worse they get.

LOL!! I have this DREAD of 1015pm. I can generally make it until then, but after that hour there is this munch monster that seems to take control of me. I know that it is there... I am still working on how to banish it.

Lila-
Its not a major concern, just wondering if others came across the same things as me. As far as me being on maintenance. I am not much of a reader, so I have not read the atkins books. I have really just kinda mulled my way through it with the help of a buddy at work. I have felt great since doing it for the mostpart so I have adopted what has worked for me and "adlibbed" the rest. It has been good so far , so I havent moved on to the next level though I think in the very near future I will go to 30 grams a day and see how it goes.

Have a great day!

Rod

Well, not exactly, but I do something similar. If I'm going to have a meal that would tend to have more carbs that might get a craving started, I'll have it at dinner. That way I'll be heading off to bed (and will have already brushed my teeth - which is a great way to put off cravings. You can't eat after brushing your teeth, can you? ) before a food craving could possibly hit.

Sneaky, huh? It works too!

Nope, you are not alone. I have done it myself, simply because the temptation to eat junk always came after dinner for me.

Heck, I have gone to bed before 8 because I had supper at 6:30, and the craving hit me around then... Don't be discouraged - I have only been on Atkins a day, and the cravings are diminished. Good luck!

Diana

Nothing wrong with it, Lessara! It's good to find something incompatible with eating to curb the urge to cheat, whether it be going to bed, taking a walk, a shower, knitting..anything to keep your hands and mind occupied and/or just keep you away from food...but it's also helpful to just NOT have tempting foods in the house...
