Cool climbing back on the wagon....

[FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=4][COLOR=DarkSlateBlue]

Hi everyone -

I started Atkins the last week in August and had quick results. Then I get married and decided that for the special occasion, I'd have a day off. Being around my family made it more like a week off - OOPS!

So I'm back on the wagon for three weeks now. I actually gained 1.5 lbs. this week - why I don't know, but I'm hoping it is related to the TOM. <blush> This after exercise and rigorous induction...

Reading some of the posts on this site has helped me to keep my chin up for now. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas about when is a good time for moving on to OWL? I have almost 100lbs. to lose, and I want it gone as quickly as possible!

Looking forward to forumming.
-LJ

Welcome LJ....glad to hear you're back on the wagon!

I'm also back....off for almost a year!

Since I just started OWL myself, I'd suggest you read up on it, either on the Atkins site, or one of your books.

I've only added berries so far....I'm only adding when I feel I need it, still wanting to stay as low in carbs as possible. I also eat nuts....but I eat them even during induction.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi Cindy Sue -

I've read Atkins' book - although only as far as Induction. Perhaps I should read on...

LOL

I think I've read about Induction fifty times now. I did look ahead to OWL. I guess I don't want to slow up weight loss until I get very close to my goal weight.

I've got an Atkins journal, and it says:

Am I bored with Induction?
PRETTY MUCH!

How much weight do I have to lose?
SO MUCH!

Am I metabolically resistant to weight loss?
HOPE NOT!

Am I willing to slow down the pace of weight loss in exchange for more food choices?
NOPE.

So there's my answer. I just don't know how much OWL will slow my weight loss. This will affect my decision as to when I leave Induction. I guess everyone is different, and in any case, I won't be moving on for a little while. <sigh>

Thanks for the replies and support!

Default my two cents

My two cents: I say you can wait a while before increasing your carbs. See what you feel like doing after you lose, say, ten pounds.

I know you know this, but the scale is not the only indicator of weight loss. Water retention can make the number on the scale look high.

I wanted quick results too, but you know what? I have been at this since 1998! Ugh. I just discovered low-carb eating a year ago, though. So even if your results are slow, don't despair.

Hope my little pep talk helps.

Hello. I have a question> "why I don't know, but I'm hoping it is related to the TOM. This after exercise and rigorous induction..."<
What does TOM mean? Also Colleen, I was looking at your stats/ 235 down to 115, wow. I bet that feels amazing. How did your facial
looks hold up after all that weight loss? How long did it take you to lose all that weight? Wow. Keep up the good work.

Oh, I've been at this for a long time -- I started getting these pounds off in 1998. So I am not going to win any speed records.

My skin is OK all over. No extra wrinkles, no sagging. I'm not losing fast enough for that to happen. I still get carded occasionally, and I turned 40 this year!!!!

Maybe the high fat/adequate protein is what I should credit for the OK skin. Maybe my skin is just getting the nutrients it needs?

TOM stands for Time of the Month.

Sorry it took me so long to reply here. I just started checking to see if anyone sent replies to any of my posts. I guess I should check more often!
