Default Oat bran on induction?

Is it OK to eat a little Oat bran for fiber instead of wheat bran. Oat bran is water soluable, so some carbohydrate might get into your system, where wheat bran goes right through. Trouble is I don't do well on wheat. Has anyone tried flax? That might be an acceptable substitution, if I can find it.

Hi there leboreland,

I would advise you to stick to the lists of allowed foods on Induction. And that means no oatbran.

Dr Atkins does suggest psyllium husks as a source of fibre. You can buy them in capsules or as the plain husks. Dr A says to use 1 tablespoon daily, stirred into a glass of water.

You can get flaxseed online or probably at Trader Joes, if there's one near you.

Is that really true about the wheat bran, that none of the carbs count????

And when looking at fiber content, should the water soluable fiber count partially as carbs???
