Thumbs down Slim-Fast Succeed bars

Even Slim-Fast is getting into the low carb line. They have a 1 oz bar called Succeed that is listed as zero net carbs. However, the first ingredient is listed as malitol, and the taste is not very good. I guess they would be all right if there were nothing else available, but the Atkins bars are much tastier and, of course, larger.

These are also much cheaper than atkins bars. I thought they were pretty good, and I actually prefer the size. Atkins bars are too big if you ask me! These are only about 120 cals as opposed to the 240 or so for atkins bars.

Talking Slim Fast bars

I tend to use the Atkins bars as a meal replacement. The biggest problem with the Slim Fast bars is the malitol - which goes right through me. Maybe that's how you're supposed to lose weight???? *giggle*

Actually, I prefer Keto bars. They have fewer sugar alcohols and to me, at least, taste better than the Atkins ones. My favorites are Oatmeal Raisin (3g carbs) and Lemon Chiffon (2g)

Default Slim Fast bars

I tried the peanut butter and the cookies and cream. The peanut butter was the better taste. I haven't tried the Keto bars yet. I have to watch more carefully for the malitol. The first couple of times I ate something with it in it I didn't have trouble - but now it really tears my tummy up.

They are tasty ... extremely small for the $$$ ... and still a bit higher in carbs than some other bars out there. Carbwise and Atkins bars are by far better despite costing a slight bit more.

I wonder if these will be available in the UK, as Slim-Fast can be found in many shops and supermarkets here. I'll have to look out for them.

At the moment we can only buy things like Atkins bars over the internet and they are very expensive

Although I'm not keen on these 'substitute' foods - it's always a good idea to keep something like that in your bag for the times you're stuck somewhere and starving.

I just tried a Succeed Banana Nut about an hour ago and LOVED it! It was a perfect afternoon snack. I love most Atkins flavors, too, and eat them for breakfast almost every day but they are too big for a snack. The size and price of the Succeed bars make them a nice afternoon treat.

I had the banana nut and cookies n cream. I liked both of them, the banana nut was OUT OF THIS WORLD. It tasted exactly like Snackwells banana brownies that in my low fat days I used to love and literally tried to make them last by nibbling on the edges till I got to the center!

Thumbs up choices

Isn't it great that we are now getting so many different choices? Seems like everyone is going to be able to find something that they like.
