Unhappy Need suggestions on drinking more H2O

Ok, I could search thru here on this subject 'cuz I'm sure it's been brought up a thousand times over, but I really could use some help regarding how to get myself to drink more H2O!

I've tried putting 8 rubber bands on my glass, then taking one off as I finish each glass -- nope, didn't work; I've tried filling an old (but clean) gallon milk jug and keeping that in the fridge -- once again, no go!

I so know how very important it is to drink enough H2O and would greatly appreciate any suggestions that others have used that have worked for them!

Thanks!

Met someone here that threw me a thought. Its quite simple, she drank water with 2 straws. Maybe this can be something for you?

A slice of lemon in it makes it more drinkable. Some people sip it through the day. I prefer to drink one or two glasses straight back several times a day. You just have to work out what suits you best.

Are you forgetful about it or do you not like water? 2 very different issues--for forgetting, keep a container of water with you at all times during the day.

If you don't like the taste, you can try several options--there are many different bottled waters, each with its own flavor, and there are flavored waters available, too... Hope this helps

I find buying 500ml bottles of water helps me because the water seems "fresher" to me and more like a treat. Also, it helps me to measure how much I'm having. I usually have one in the morning and then refill it 1 or 2 times during the day with regular filtered water from the container that I keep in the fridge.

I'm a constant drinker--am rarely ever without a drink by my side. I take it everywhere--to the garden, every room I go into for any length of time, in the car, so on and so forth.

And I like my drinks nice and cold, so I use one of those 32- or 34-ounce mugs you can guy at the local convenience stores. (Actually, I have several. ) I get up in the morning and the first thing I do is grab my mug, fill it with ice then water. That's generally gone before an hour's up, and usually by that time I want some Diet Rite, so I put a little of that into my mug and drink it over the next hour or so. By that time my ice is usually getting pretty melted, so I pop the lid off the mug and eat what's left of the ice (I can do that only with my ice from home because it has tiny air bubbles that makes it soft--boughten ice ends up hurting my teeth). Once my mug's empty, it gets refilled with ice and water again, and the process gets pretty much repeated throughout the day.

I find that drinking out of a water bottle ( 1 liter) it is alot easier to get down . FOr some reason when I drink out of a glass I take smaller drinks thus, making the process alot slower. I also consume most of my water intake at work during the day because it is always on my desk right in front of me --instead of at the house in the evening when you are busy with family, etc. and you might sit it down in another room and forget about it... Hope this helps!!

I like bottled water because it's convenient and I'm getting a measured amount. I used to feel guilty about buying bottled water when we have our own well - but my water is hard and the minerals give it a strong aftertaste. Even with lemon or lime slices, it's not as good as the Canadian spring water I buy. I had one of those water-filtration pitchers, but they take up a lot of room in my already crowded fridge, and you have to remember to refill it daily and clean it regularly. Sometimes if there's something in the fridge that's strong flavored, it'll give the water an off-taste. Plus it's an extra glass or 3 in the dishwasher, and with 5 people here, I have enough dishes to wash! My bottles are always ice cold - they're downstairs in the second fridge so I get a little exercise going after them, and I can just toss the empty into the recycling bin with nothing to rinse or scrub afterward. I figure I've cut out a lot of excess expenses on the WOE, I'm worth a couple cases of water a week.

I find that by making sure I drink water with my meals and snacks, I get a lot more down that way. I have a rule of thumb that at every meal I must drink a bottle of water while eating and one afterward. It slows down my eating speed and fills me up faster, and that's a good thing. My water of choice comes in 16.9oz (500mL) bottles, so that's 6 bottles a day right there! Then I have 1 bottle with every snack, which is usually only 1 more per day. If I still think I feel hungry between meals or before bed, I'll have at least half a bottle of H2O before I decide what to eat. I also keep one with me while I'm preparing food or cooking so that my mouth has something to do besides nibble! This way I get 6-9 bottles in daily, and it's relatively easy.

Lightbulb before each meal

I read on another forum a girl who did Stillman and lost 100 lbs drank a full glass of water before each meal (including small inbetween meals) I started trying that because I was stalled severely- adn it has helped- I have been losing around 2 lbs a week since. I also drink only water at meals-sometimes I'll have a cup of coffee on weekend, but I still keep the water flowing- it seems kind of restrictive, but once you get used to having water as your main drink most of the time- it works well- I also still manage to drink 3 cups of white tea a day (even healthier than green tea- but with very little caffeine!)
I started the water before meals thing just at dinner, to take my vitamins with (I take a lot of them) then I tried it before breakfast as well (I started taking extra calcium & primrose oil) so that was my "excuse" to myself to drink the water before eating.
Hope this is a helpful tip for you!

Post Ice Water is Addictive

It takes some motivation, but keeping ice water at
your fingertips is a good way to go for me. I'm always
kind of thirsty anyway, and the cold water is
so refreshing I take it in big gulps.
Mmmmmm. (There are a number of creative ways
to keep ice closeby..just have to think up the way
it's the least trouble for you.)

Drinking water is a challenge. I have been drinking the sugar free flavored water (asparteme) Any reason not to continue? I drink about another equal amount of plain water also

if you find yourself stalling from drinking the aspartame water, you may want to stop and move to seltzer or something else. Some of us react to aspartame just like sugar and stall out. May you be one of the lucky ones!

I'm also one of those "water-haters" but I find that if I get into a habit of it, my body really, really starts craving it like it is a goodie! Gimme, gimme, gimme! It's just willpower on my part to make myself drink it at the beginning. Eventually I forget again, then go back to it.
