Cool

I don't know about Slim Jims - I wonder why the carb count is so high? Sugar is not listed - I wonder if that is what's in them.

Instead of Slim Jims, I eat Kowalski's Hunter Sausage. Mild or spicy, no carbs, you can get them at any deli that sells Kowalski lunchmeat, or at Costco (much cheaper). When my hubby and I are out hunting, we always bring the Hunter Sausage along - tastes great!

Slim Jims are loaded with sugar. Not to mention the sodium. I avoid them. That small of a snack isn't worth all the carb and salt it has.

It is possible to make your own jerky on a cookie sheet in the oven. There is sugar free jerkey out there, but it's extreamly hard to find I've found.

I think they're fine in moderation..as with many things. They make a handy snack occasionally. Many gas stations and convenience stores carry them, as well as string cheese. Makes a great "in-a-pinch" road trip munch!

Curious thing, though. The one I got listed two grams of carbs, but ONE of fiber... weird.

Slim Jim's have corn syrup in them and stay away from them because I find them addicting! I usually have a hand full of cheese cubes or 3 oz of cream cheese as a high fat snack.

The ones I saw had corn syrup and dextrose listed in ingredients.
