Default Ow! Oooo! Ouch! Feed me comfort food!!

Actually, no, DON'T pass me the comfort food!

To fill you in...Hubby and I are motorbike riders and we commute into the big city every day. Wednesday night a truck swapped lanes in front of us without looking and took us right off the road into the central reservation.

(Full, colourful story here: http://www.roundersonline.com/showt...30&pagenumber=1)

I am in a lot of pain from the accident but I want to be proud of myself for not giving in to the IMMEDIATE impulse to eat every single white flour/sugar laden/carb filled thing IN SIGHT.

Today I'm struggling. I so want those Bad Things and I'm really having a hard time staying away from them. They're all in my cupboard because hubbs eats them. He doesn't need to lose weight at ALL.

I'm dosed up on painkillers and muscle relaxants and all I want to do is eat the fast food/instant snack/high carb stuff in my kitchen. Argh!

On the good side, hubby is planning to buy me a dishwasher because he's realised that if I am incapacitated again, either by an accident or my MS flaring up, the dishes do not get done. He hates doing them so...dishwasher! Yay!!

Oh and the good thing, the ambulance guy took my blood pressure right on the scene of the accident and told me it was...wait for it....EXCELLENT! 122/77 - he was very surprised that it was good. I just grinned and said....Atkins.

Hi Lisa

Sorry to read about the accident. I hope all those aches and pains settle down soon. I was going to ask about the Farmers Market, but suspect that also had to be missed today.

Brilliant news that you are keeping away from the comfort food. Keep at it. You may well want to eat more at this time anyway as your body needs to heal itself. A few extra carbs as well as protein are allowed, but this is not a licence for cake, biscuits, chocolate, etc.

Hope you are feeling better soon. BP results great.

Thanks Anne. The healing is progressing - still got one leg bigger than the other, which annoys someone like me who likes things kind of symmetrical.

I allowed myself some crisp bread yesterday so I had about 30 carbs in all I think.

Hey Lisa
Glad you escaped from that relatively unscathed!!! I have friends who got so badly hurt in bike accidents caused by inattentive car drivers... It's the only thing stopping me getting a bike myself. You can be as careful as anything and all it takes is some w*nker to put you in hospital for months...
Good luck with the healing and the LCing! Glad you're able to stay positive - keep it up!
Steven

Lisa,

Glad your ok,, it happens all to often,, i ride myself (oops,, doesnt sound right but i'm sure you know what i mean) and it can be very daunting after a spill and the easiest thing to do is be weak and take in some sugar,, Good for you tho,, be strong, be positive and stick to your plan,, it will all be worth it in the end.

have a nice rest and take care, and i did like the bit about the blood pressure

regards

Disky

Cheers Steven. Like my Mum says, it isn't YOU that's the problem, it's all the OTHERS!

Oh and by the way, you look marvellous! The goatee and the longer hair also are rather fetching.

Disky you snuk in while I was posting. Yes, I DID know what you meant!!

I have never seen such bad road awareness/manners/driving as it has been lately. We got knocked off back in May with a woman in the wrong lane on a roundabout. She protested it was out fault but the traffic cop who was 2 cars behind told her she was definitely in the wrong lane. She STILL tried to argue with him!!

The annoying thing? We ONLY just got the repairs completed for the May accident! Grrrr.

Hi Lisa,

Sorry to hear about your accident (have only just seen this thread) and hope you're well and truly on the mend now

WTG with the blood pressure - just the sort of thing we low carbers (especially in the UK with the present anti-Atkins stance by the media) like to hear

Thank you Demi. Having seen a UK Drs survey online today, I just LOVE the fact that my BP is great. I want to shove it in their faces! lol

My bruises are awful now. Dark cerise and still more appearing every day. I'm getting to the point where I've lost count! lol

I've put photos of them in an online album so that way at least I have proof for the insurance.
