Exclamation Pacific Northwest?

hi! anyone on the board from the Pacific Northwest, or more specifically the Olympic Peninsula? It doesn't seem that there are that many people out here who have advanced into the era of technology (as opposed to the hunter-gatherer ) just teasing. but it is a far cry from Los Angeles, where I just moved from a year or two ago.

if there are any,

how do you deal with exercise when its raining everyday for 8mo?
what do you do to get through the SAD (seasonal affective disorder) which i think i suffer from? i never want carbs more than when it is rainy and gloomy outside, and i have gained 30lbs each winter so far living here. HELP!

Default You're not alone!

There are quite a few people in a forum called: calling all oregonians and SW washington.... it is in the same area, division of the posting forums as this thread that you started. For excerise that is something of a personel choice. I live on the rainey northwest corner of Oregon, and we get the top numbers in rain here. I have a treadmill that I purchased from Costco........ I love my treadmill! and I picked up a nordic track circut training machine at a thriftstore and do my indoor workout when the weather is not so great, the excercise helps bring up my mood and curb my apetite in the morning. Some folks love to go and work out at CURVES, this is a circuit exercise club.. you put in 30 minutes several times a week working 5 minutes on different machines that target different areas of the body, they are all over the northwest. My co-workers love their reasonable costing memebership to curves, it works great for them. I prefer to exercise alone myself, me and my walkman! *G* So please do make a post on the Calling all Oregonians and S.W. washington thread..... there are several people from the seattle area posting there. ~jade~

thanks jade! i should have titled my post "west end of the olympic peninsula" instead of pacific northwest. port angeles, sequim, port towsend, forks, la push, beaver, sappho, clallam bay, neah bay, maybe even as far south as the hoh rain forest. seattle is three hours, a ferry ride, and a climate zone away from me- we get 14 feet of rain a year here in the rain forest. when i say it rains a lot here, i don't just mean like in seattle. woo hoo! maybe swimming in the front yard should be a competitive event here- or pulling weeds- they grow year round chest high!

I used to live in Olalla, outside Gig Harbor-and my ex still does. I have since moved back home to Spokane and have found absolutely no one else from here on the boards. Bummer.
I can totally relate to living in the boonies and having a hard time exercising outside. Not fun commuting to a gym either.

I live in Lacey, so I'm on the opposite end of the forest I guess.
