Unhappy Legs Hurt

I'm taking 2,400 mg of Calcium/Magnesium and it did help with the leg cramping but for the past 2 weeks, the bottom left calf has been hurting like crazy, almost like a charlie horse feeling ?

Is there something else I should know about ?

THANKS

Maybe eat more foods rich in potassium, like spinach?

I re-read DANDR recently and do recall the leg cramps are a sign that you may be losing weight/water/nutrients too quickly. The fix was to include a vitanutrient in your routine and add more carbs.

Good luck and I hope you feel better!

My pleasure! My wife had this EXACT same problem, although she isn't on Atkins. She added a couple bananas a day to her diet and the let cramps went away. I try to eat a nice sized spinach salad every day to get as much potassium as possible, especially since a lot of the protein I take in has salt in it...

Is this why my legs spasm and hurt at night? SO much so that I cannot sleep. Ahh!

I have to get up and walk around and drink water or something.
I don;t know whats wrong with me.

Katgurl, and others,

I work 12 hour shifts on my feet and notice that I have really bad charley-horse leg cramps while sleeping after my shifts (I only work 3 shifts per week) on Atkins. When it happens now, I get up and take 3 to 4 over-the-counter 91mg Potassium tablets and a big glass of water, wait about 5 minutes, and they go away. Instead of keeping me awake, or re-awakening me! I know exactly what you all mean, these are vicious awful painful pulling leg cramps and the Potassium supplement has been a life-saver. As discussed elsewhere, the amount of potassium in 3 to 4 of these tablets is about the same as in a banana or other high potassium food.

Leg cramps probably means that you are loosing too many electrolytes, which are full of minerals....Supplement with potassium and the cramps should disappear.
Cheers, Isiar
