Default Lost 30 lbs but now stalled out

I started Atkins a little over a month ago, and since then I've lost about 30lbs. I've also started exercising a month ago on my Boflex knockoff for 40+ mins 3 times a week and 20 mins on my Nordic Track Skier during inbetween days. I drink about a gallon of water every day as well. This last week I noticed no weight loss at all. Its very discouraging since I have a ways to go to reach my goal. I read all the labels on my food, and the only carb intake I have are my daily lettuce and protein only salads. I've been making sure I'm still in Ketosis too using the urine strips, and according to the strips I'm at the highest messurable level. What do you think is going wrong?

Thumbs up Why worry?

I'm a newbie myself and no expert, but 30lbs sounds like a great jump start to your weight loss, and don't forget that all the working out you are doing is turning unattractive fat into useful (but heavier) muscle tissue.
Stick with it, and stop weighing yourself every day. As long as you know you are in ketosis the weight simply has to drop eventually.
Keep smiling.

You have made a great start on your new WOL, but since you are stalling why not try posting a sample menu for us. What you eat for each meal and how much of each item in each meal. Once folks here see what you are eating they can give you lots and lots of tips to help you get back on your way to your goal. Be sure to include your supplements and any medication you are taking. It might be that your carbs are too low, your fat is too low or you aren't consuming enough calories.

Another thing, it is normal for your body to take "time out" from losing weight now and again to catch up with itself. Fat cells don't leave - they just try to fill up with water and make us look like we're not losing fat. Keep drinking lots of water to flush out that retained water.

Don't get discouraged. This plan will work. Just post your menu as I suggested so folks can help you "tweak" your Atkins plan to your best advantage.

Generally,

I have 2 eggs seasoned with a touch of garlic powder and pepper scrambled or fried using either butter or olive oil for typical breakfest.

for lunch I have 2-3 cups of lettuce loosely packed with a bit of garlic powder, a dab of sour cream, and a large pinch of cheeder or some other none carb cheese with either a strips of steak or chicken. I use Olive oil and cider vineger for dressing.

For dinner its usually some form of meat seasoned with garlic powder and pepper. Generally just steak, a pork chop, or 2-3 drumsticks of chicken.

As far as water consumption goes, I thought drinking about a gallon a day would suffice?

thanks for the help!

Did you measure yourself when you began? Many notice when the scale doesn't move that the tape measure does.

Also you've lost quite well in a short amount of time, it's common for your body to slow down and get into a more steady rate. It's also common for it to take a break and catch up with itself.

Slow and steady is better for you and your skin, your skin has a better chance of keeping up with the loss and you have a better chance of learning how to eat and more about your body and it's real food needs.

If you want help with your menu be sure and post that and also check out the orange bar at the top of the page and check out the recipe section. Some really yummy stuff there.

Congratulations on your loss so far -- sounds like you're on the right track.

I think this is quite normal. If I plotted my weight loss, the graph would have steep bits and flat bits.
I think your body has to adjust to those 30 pounds being gone and reorganise itself. Also your fat cells are now very stressed - the poor things can see themselves losing their jobs! They are hanging onto water to save their lives. Eventually, when it becomes obvious that you really do mean to sort them out, they will let go of the water and give up - you then get the famous 'whoosh' and lose some more weight.
So - keep doing all the things you are doing, maybe swap exercises for a while, since our bodies adjust pretty quickly and what was taxing a month ago may not be causing you to work as hard anymore. I've just had to up my running distance for just that reason.
Good luck, hang in there, it will start coming off again!
Take care, Jay

30 Pounds? You should be so proud! These things take time, I'm sure you'll start losing again, your body is taking a break!! This is my second go around on a low-carb diet. I'm only 3 days into it, but somehow I know I'll stick with it this time. I want to lose about 20 pounds..I'm a singer and I want to feel better about myself on stage. I'm a true carb-addict so it'll be tough, but knowing I have support should get me through. Any thoughts on snacks made with the Splenda? Thanks!
