Default Top ten signs of scale addiction

1/ You won't weigh yourself with wet hair

2/ If you see good news, you accept it and celebrate. If it's bad, you reweigh yourself to double check. Then you triple check

3/Your first thought in the morning is about what you weigh today

4/You get on the scale as soon as you get up, but don't consider it real until after you've gone to the bathroom and reweighed.

5/You take off your watch and hair clips

6/You have wondered how much your glasses weigh

7/You have tried standing in different positions to see if you can change the number

8/ You have stumbled into the bathroom to pee in the middle of the night and found yourself checking the scale

9/You have had fantasies that your scale is wrong and if you got a new one, it might tell you you weigh five pounds less than this one does.

10/You don't buy a new scale for fear it will tell you really weigh five pounds MORE!

any additions?

here's my addition:

11) after the first-thing-in-the-morning check, and the first-thing-in-the-morning-right-after-peeing check, you proceed to the kitchen for a cup o' joe, wait ten minutes, have a visit from the colon fairy, and then have a first-thing-in-the-morning-after peeing-after-coffee check!

12) you've noticed that you can wake up feeling "thin", get on the scale, and suddenly feel "bloated" (i must be retaining water- durn salty dinner...)

13) you wake up feeling "bloated" (i must be retaining water- durn salty dinner...) hop on the scale and suddenly feel lithe and bonny (ahh, nothing like the feeling of a clean colon!)

1. Check
2. ...and then wait a few minutes, and check again, and again until the number changes [downward.]
3. Check
4. I wait until 9 AM to eat breakfast, because the scale is never nice to me before then.
5. Don't have to...I take 'em off before I go to sleep.
6. That's why I got a scale with large, well contrasting numbers: Don't need my glasses to read it.
7. This actually works...If I stand about 1-2" further foward, my weight will go down a couple pounds. Scary one is my old scale...it would change as much as 10 pounds, depending on how I stood on it.
8. My scale's in the Kitchen.
9. Check
10. Check

I fit the profile too.
I have 3 additions/confessions:

- If the number on the scale has gone down at all, even by 1/2 a pound, I will update my profile with the new number right away. If the number has gone up, I won't change my profile.

- I have lifted myself using the counter or window ledge to see what it feels like to see a significantly lower number on the scale.

- I weigh myself with my clothes on and then with my clothes off, rejoicing in the rush I get from seeing a much lower number (when I say "much", I mean 1 or 2 pounds).

I need help.

Conclusion? Buy the next size down pair of pants and watch how it fits instead, (checking weekly...
this could be easier because it is more hassle and its not an over-learned bad habit yet).

Then do the following:
1. pick up scales in hands.
2. if they are old ones, walk to some outside garbage bin and place them in it. If new ones, put them in your car and give them to someone you know.
3. Allow yourself to reflect on the fact that this is a WOL and so you don't need scales anyway as you aren't dieting. You will lose body fat if you don't eat too much and you exercise. If you constantly pig out on lots of butter and cream and bars and so on, you won't.

I am guilty of 1, 2, and 7 (it works ). Another is...

11) ONLY morning weights count for anything, weight during the day is "tainted" by clothes, food and water consumption .
