Default Cottage Cheese ideas?

OK here's a question.

I am on induction (again... sigh) and was wondering...

First of all, is cottage cheese okay in extreme moderation? And if so, what are some induction-friendly things I could do to sweeten it up and make it a little tastier?

Thank you so much... I appreciate everyone's help! =)

Hey Tangie...
Good work on your weight loss.

For cottage cheese ideas, go take a fun peek at all our reader's recipes here. They're listed by genre on the home page listing. Also Karen's corner is awesome.

Don't get discouraged about your weight, please! Sometimes it takes longer when someone is thinner and has only a few more to lose. I have been on 20 grams since April. Although I weigh more than you, still I stalled for over a month at 185. But no induction do-over, just kept faithful knowing things would even out.

Please be encourged Tangie!

I like it mixed with a little s/f jam. Also, you can make some s/f jello and whip it in with it.

Here's my heaven: Whip cold heavy cream with splenda and vanilla to taste, add in a pkg. of cream cheese and whip again. A serving for me is 4 tblsp in a short glass. IT IS SO GOOD. TASTES LIKE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING. You can add chopped macadamia nuts (I don't yet), cinnamin, sf coaco powder, berries. Serve it ice cold.

I hate to burst your bubble, but cottage cheese is not allowed on induction. As you can read on the acceptable foods list, "Note that cottage cheese, farmer’s cheese and other fresh cheeses are not permitted during Induction. No "diet" cheese, cheese spreads or whey cheeses are permitted."

You can add it back in once you are in OWL.

Both of those ideas sound SO good!
(Especially the cream cheese frosting idea.... I'll have to try that one pretty soon!)

Thank you for your tips!

Cottage cheese, the full fat 4% kind is great for OWL. Take and blend with berries for a sweet snack. I like doing this with no salt added kind. It can also be mixed with cream cheese or whole milk ricotta. There are cheesecake recipes that use it, as well as mixing it with spinich for a kind of floratine lasagne without the noodles. It can also be used in many recipes involving fish

I eat cottage cheese 4% everyday, with frozen blueberries, I just let them thaw a bit.
But yes in the Book they are listed as OWL, not induction.

Cheers.

Default Cottage Cheese and Blood Sugar?

I'm on induction and I eat a serving of cottage cheese almost every day. The kind I buy is usually 3-4 carbs per serving and I usually eat about 6 carbs worth (and then the rest of the carbs are veggies). Is there a particular reason that cottage cheese isn't recommended for induction? Does it spike blood sugar or something?

That's the same thing I'm wondering. It doesn't make sense to me why it would be a problem. I mean, sure, if you are eating the whole container in a sitting that could be a problem... but otherwise, it's never been a problem for me. Are you in ketosis from what you can tell?
