Default Critique my diet please!

Hello! I just started induction today and this is what I have eaten/plan to eat.

Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs, 2 strips bacon
Snack: 10 olives
Lunch: 2 pork burgers
Afternoon: Protein shake, 10 olives, 1 strip bacon
Dinner: 2 italian sausages

Thanks, I'm thinking there is not enough vegetables but I'm not sure exactly which ones to buy.

Overall, it looks okay.

Definitely not enough veggies. Try to get a little with each meal. As far as veggies go, start with some leaf or romaine lettuce, peppers, mushrooms, etc. There is a list of acceptable induction foods - including veggies on the Atkins website here

On another note, it looks like you are eating primarily processed meats - bacon and italian sausage. These are usually loaded with sodium and nitrates, both of which can be detrimental to your health (not to mention that sodium can cause fluid retention).

Also, don't neglect cheese. It can be a good source of calcium. But only 3 to 4 ounces each day!

Not bad as long as you add more veggies. And watch out for those protein shakes. I understand they cause some folks to stall. Are you getting enough water too?

Spinach is great - one of my personal favorites. Just remember that, for Atkins, it's on the "no more than one cup a day" list.

Try cucumbers with cream cheese or celery with cream cheese also. Throw in a cherry tomato or two onto a salad with ceasar or blue cheese and you have a great side dish with your sausage for supper!!

What's up with all the olives? Everything else looks good. Don't olives have carbs in them? Probably not much but anytime there is something I crave I get rid of it. I used to eat tons of olives and I found they were a trigger for me. The more triggers I get rid of the better off I am. I'd check the bacon and make sure it has no sugar. That might help too. If you can't find bacon with no sugar in it (if sugar is a problem for you b/c for me it causes cravings) try the frozen Jimmy dean sausage patties. no carbs no sugars. If you want to add veggies put them in the eggs. You can add cheese, tomatoes, green peppers etc. to omelettes. I make big huge omelettes with 3 eggs, cheese etc. but stay away from the onions. They are carb bombs.

For chicken I bake them in the oven and pour over one can of stewed tomatoes (you do have to count the carbs though) or even better cook it in the pan plain and then dip it in spicy mustard and melt provolone or swiss cheese on top of it.

Get the good mixed salad bags (iceberg yuck). I do eat more than a cup of salad a day BUT I aim for zero carbs a day so that is why it doesn't bother me. I probably eat around 3 cups of salad a day. I get the tiny diced ham in the hot dog section and I put that in my salad, boiled eggs, bacon bits, and get Marie Callendar blue cheese dressing. It is very good and has no sugar.
