Default 4 days ...and what's going on??

Hi, this is day 4 for me. haven't been able to sleep since i started. very intermittant sleep and wake up beyond exhausted. i'm thinking of starting coffee and haven't done that for 4 yrs! NO Ketosis in sight still. less than no energy and cant even go on my walks or do my workouts. i dont know if this lcarb is for me. cant work...cant even function. and am still sooooo hungry and ate 2400 cals yesterday! more than i ever eat. my normal intake is probably around 15-1600. my legs and arms feel like they will give out. my appetite does not go away, it just gets worse! should i start drinking coffee? nothing satiates me. it's ridiculous!! is this just carb craving? and have gained 1 pound. how much longer should i do this before giving up? sorry about this post being so "desperate " but that is how i feel....

How long have you been eating LC? Are you still in induction? How much water are you drinking? Perhaps you could post what you have been eating so that we coud better help you. I am sorry to hear how bad you are feeling. Please post your menus and let us see if there is anything we can help with.

I am not an expert at this....but...your calorie intake is so high??? your normal calorie in take sounds better to me...
You have to give this time to kick in...
Are you eating the right foods..? Check the free food list. Thing is...watching your calorie intake is fine, as long as you are counting 20 gms. carbs...that is what is essential on this diet...during induction...! I bet if you look close enough you will see something out of whack. Granmums

This was kind of hard to decipher. LOL. But let me give it a try...

Starting right off, did I see BREAD in there? That's a HUGE (big stress on the "huge") no-no.

Also, nuts of any kind are not allowed on induction.

Its my understanding NUTS are not allowed during INDUCTION but can be added in OWL! Don't think coconut oils is allowed either...coconut is a fruit and should have sugar....use a good olive oil or vegetable oil, even butter. On salads use a low carb cream salad dressing also...I use Hidden Valley Ranch...I also use this as a dip for raw veggies. Make sure your meatballs don't have fillers in them...(bread crumbs etc)..those hidden carbs can kill ya. Watch the salt intake too. Hope this helped....and by the way...if you eat diet jello, do not use the canned whipped cream, it has sugar, get heavy whipping cream add two splenda (2 carbs) or less and a tsp. of vanilla and whip up a carb free batch! Limit to 2-3 tablespoons of cream a day! Hope I helped.

Ok let me try and do teh Fitday to reality cut and paste decipherings.

Bread w/ butter
1 sausage in coconut oil (you didnt specify how many servings i am assuming 1)
1 egg
some type of hamburger in hempseed oil
3 pieces of chicken
Lettuce I am assuming for hamburger
Almonds
Walnuts
squash
asparagus
piece of salmon

Am i close?

if so how much water are you drinking?
Nuts not allowed during induction or bread.

Have you read DANDR to see what foods you can and can not have during induction..the first 2 weeks are the hardest and also easiest to sabatoge this WOE.

Lets try again...there was NO BREAD...
today so far:
meal 1: 3 xl eggs in 1 T coconut oil and 5 skinny asparagus
meal 2: 1 cup mesculin lettuce , 2 oz chicken breast, 1 T flax oil
meal 3: 1 cup baby romaine, 2 oz wild salmon, 1 T hazelnut oil

1.5 liter H20
supp: 1 glutamine, 1 coq10, 1/2 multi, 1 chromium, 1/2 potassium from Dr so proably 400 g pot. pot has sucros...is that why i feel so strange and instantly fell out of ketosis. was in ketosis for 2 seconds after BF. as soon as i took the supps and the flax felt so scary weird!!

2 oz servings of meat? Why so tiny? Don't worry you are just going through the blas which should end in a couple of days. Also when you say not in Ketosis, do you mean the stick is not turning at all, or is just not purple (which it shouldn't be anyway, as that usually indicates dehydration).

I son't think that calorie count is right...did you check the amounts when you inputted them into Fitday? Sometimes they entered 1 cup of butter when I only used 1 TBLS, and I was shocked when I saw my cals.

Kay - some people have a harder time going on this WOE than others... Your reaction is definitely a severe one!

I would say that overall what you are eating sounds okay. Look at how much you are drinking, and are you exercising? Are any of these foods totally new to you? Food allergies can cause problems, as can caffeine withdrawal (you didn't exactly say if you drank a lot of coffee before, but I'm getting the feeling that may be the case...)

So, my advice: 1. Make sure you've read the book, and follow it consistently. 2. Did you get a medical check up before starting? Highly advised. 3. Give it at least a week to 10 days before freaking.

I have another concern - your goal weight seems awfully low. You are 5'4", if I'm not mistaken? You are actually probably very close to your ideal weight. If you are not realistic about your body image, this WOE will never solve that for you. I would seriously rethink your goal weight, possibly with the help of a physician.

Good luck!

ok, the cals were right unfortunately no coffee or diet drinks for last 4 yrs. felt so much better when i quit them with gobs of energy that i never went back. funny but now that i started this i am craving coffee. should i try it? i gained about 30 pounds in 2 months. always had a great metabolism and was stable at 110-115. all of it came on as pure fat. no muscle. so it has to go. would be happy at any weight as long as i am the same size. i do react to some things. and i am wondering if its flax oil. also dont do well with supps... weird feeling!! i am going to try cream even though i have never done well with dairy in the hopes that it will satiate me. as far as the protein, i ate way too much yesterday...will try to keep it more to 100 g today. i am trying to eat more fat because they say that is what will satiate me. protein seems to make me hungrier as yesterday proved. no exercise yet but will try tomorrow....feel too weird/weak but maybe that will help. it always used to make me feel good and would stabilize my BS. hoping this is just a transition for me and things will start looking up...thanks for the advice and the encouragement!!! means so much...i would have given up without it... and so happy this is working so well for you!!

Test for ketosis in the morning. The sticks can read when diatary fat is being turned into keotenes and a positive reading after flax oil can be from that.

The cut and paste you had origionaly did have almonds, walnuts and a few other no no things included. Coconut oil is ok, as is walnut and sesame oil. These have no carbs like the nuts would. Most oils except hydronated are allowed.

You're calorie count is way off if that is what you are eating daily. For all three meals I get

Total: 987
Fat: 65 583 60%
Sat: 21 189 20%
Poly: 15 134 14%
Mono: 23 204 21%
Carbs: 7 17 2%
Fiber: 3 0 0%
Protein: 91 365 38%

While your protien looks good, you can eat quite a few more carbs. Around 20 net remember. Eating under 1000 calories will make you hungry, and can stall weight loss. Make sure to watch your portions on the fitday. You have your chicken being at 650 calories, and 2oz breast is no where near that.
