Post My sweetener experiment, day one..

I decided to reduce my intake of artificial sweeteners during the day to see if it would help my evening cravings.

I drank more plain water than usual, which helped, I'm sure... I added a little extra salad at supper, but other than that, the major change was only having a diet soda AT MEALS, instead of in between, and only having a sweet food as dessert right at the end of a meal instead of in between.

I must say, I'm noticing a difference this evening. It seems easier to forgo my late-evening sweets. I am having a Fruit2O now, but have made it a point toget up and have a glass of PLAIN water whenever the thought of snacking hits. I actally feel full on the teaspoon of peanut butter I had while watching the Dr Phil special! Of course I MAY be up wearing a path to the "powder room" all night... but when I weigh in Monday morning, maybe the extra exercise will help.

As I suspected, the bathroom called my name from the extra water, but after another day of limiting the sweets, and having them with meals and not between I'd call the experiment a success.

I'll be sticking to this for awhile, since for the first time in ages, I'm not sitting here shoveling down a "bedtime snack".......and I'll keep rambling about this in my journal tomorrow!

Hey Potatoefree,
I've been meaning to tell you that I think your sig line is great! I actually used it yesterday when someone was talking about doing something that I considered a wasted effort and got a pretty good laugh...like I did when I first read it! Thanks!
Good luck with the experiment. I have some modest cravings in the evening now (as compared with strict induction where I had to make a point of eating sometimes). I hold back sometimes but often just go ahead and eat but stick to mostly protein or try to find something low carb. So far so good.
