Well, if she wants to start Atkins-she needs to go get checked out by her doctor anyway-to make sure she doesn't have any kidney problems. She could weigh there at the office.

Other than that-I am clueless.

Nowadays, most hospitals do have scales capable of weighing the severely obese, and as already stated, she really needs to get a check-up before starting.

I'm assuming your "regular" scale doesn't read high enough. One popular solution is the simplest...just put two scales together, put one foot on each, and add the totals. If you "wobble" too much, take a wide board, weigh it, then place it across both scales and stand on the board. Her weight will be the total of the weight shown on each scale, minus the weight of the board.
