Thumbs up Blue Bunny ice cream

I found Blue Bunny no sugar added ice cream at Albertsons last night. It is sweetened with Splenda. I HIGHLY recommend it!! It is about $6 for a gallon, so much more reasonable than the Atkins brand. I tried the Cherry Vanilla flavor and it is sooooo good. The only problem is that while it is no sugar added, it is not exactly LOW carb.. the cherry vailla was 18 carbs/serving (other flavors were less - I think Rocky Road was 15 and vanilla 12 or something like that), so it should be reserved for those on maintenance or just as a once in a while treat. But it is VERY good They also make drumsticks and ice cream bars.

The ice cream bars are great. The ones that are vanilla ice cream coated in chocolate are just 6 carbs apiece, and they taste just like Eskimo Pies!

Robin, Thanks for telling us! Never heard of that brand.
How much ice cream is considered a serving? 1/2 cup?

We can also make our own with a little LC protein powder, cream cheese and whip cream. Just hide it from the family! LOL

Annie-Pie, I assume serving size is half a cup, but I am not 100% certain. I will check the carton when I get home and let you know

If you see the sundae cones - GET THEM!!!! These are for special occasions - 19g carbs. I have one a week if I can keep my carbs under 30 that day. They are incredible. They even have "chocolate" in the bottom of the cone!!!!!

I had the Blue Bunny sugar free ice cream bars while on vacation in Minnesota and really liked them for only 6 carbs. I went online to see if I could find any store near me (MA) that carried them. None did...but a Walmart Supercenter opened up yesterday about 25 miles away and they carrry them. I met the Blue Bunny sales rep and he told me they sell only to Walmart in NE. Shelf space is too expensive in New England.

If you are looking for the ice cream bars try a walmart supercenter.

Another great brand is sugar free Kemps ice cream bars which are smaller and I think only 4 carbs. They sell only in the midwest.
