Lightbulb Aspertame = gut clenching misery?

Hello All,

Since I recently started low carbing, I also cut out aspertame and switched to Splenda(no more than 2 packets a day). Yesterday, however I had those sugar free jello cups (2 or 3 of them ...they are small) with aspertame. I had quite a reaction which included nausea, bad indigestion, and severe headache!!!:~( Since I started atkins i have had none of those symptoms. Has anyone had a similar reaction to aspertame? What is in it that may cause such misery? Or was it something else altogether?

Thanks,
Lisa

It's hard to pinpoint what may have caused the problem without a lot more information. I'd suggest getting a few aspertame free days under your belt again and then test it again. It's not really unusual to develop a sensitivity to something that you've given up when you use it again.

I would be surprised if that was all due to the aspartame, Especially if you used to have it before lcing. I can't imagine there was that much in those small little jello cups! How long have you been doing LC?

Migraines, Yes...I have not experienced any of the others that you listed, though. The Indigestion/Gut Pain may have been from something else that you ate.
