Yes. In moderation it is fine for most. It does have high calories though and if you are eating an cup or so a night, you may be in trouble. Also some people are dairy sensative and stall with any dairy. I know dairy slows me down, but I love it sooooo much.

I limit my heavy cream, but eat too much cream cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt and so on. I stay within carb limits and all, but I know cutting it would help.

Ladybelle, I also like cream cheese. I have decided that I am not gonna buy any cream cheese anymore. I know when I have some in my fridge I eat to much of it (with sweetener and cacao mmmmmmmmmmm).

I used to use heavy cream everyday - in soups, shakes, ice cream and coffee. I estimated just over a cup a day - one serving is a two tablespoons. I was staying within my carb limits but one cup of cream is 800 calories!!

I serverely cut back on cream and the following week lost 5 lbs!! Now I just add a splash in my shakes or coffee.

Ladybelle - I loan my books to a friend - how much cream cheese is too much.

I agree not to drink alot of cream dailey but, last night I whipped up some cream with a splash of english toffee davici syrup as I was hungry, hunger instantly gone and all that fat in me..

Thanks for all the replies. I was beginning to think i was the only one becoming addicted to cream cheese. I love cream cheese with some heavy cream and splenda, almost taste a bit like cheesecake I guess I should not buy cream cheese anymore cause i end up eating like the whole thing within a few days. My addiction now is nuts (almonds and peanuts). It has stopped me from cheating (cookies, chips, etc.) but I know it causing weight loss stalls. It's probaly the salty taste that has got me addicted and craving more and more. HELP!!!!!!!

heavy cream and whipping cream (i think ) are the same thing, or they are very very comprable in carbs... whipping cream might be slightly thicker, have more fat and calories, but if it is thicker, you could use less so then it would be about the same.

Its really easy to eat too much whipped cream because its rather hard to tell how much you are eating and its really yummy! I just go by what dr atkins suggests, he says only to eat 2-3 tablespoons a day (that is for induction, not sure about ongoing weight loss) I just usually follow what the book says, cream hasnt stalled me at all, but I use it moderatly.

I think the easy answer to your question is YES!

But anything can cause a weight loss stall, when not taken in moderation. If you are in a true stall...which is defined as 6 weeks or more with zero weight loss and zero inches lost, then it's a good idea to eliminate foods one at a time and see which one or more might be causing a problem. Some folks can't manage dairy and some can't manage nuts. Many can't manage low carb products. The trick is to identify the foods that might effect your own weight loss progress, as well as learning new eating habits. Going from one food addiction to another food addiction, even if it's low carb, isn't going to retrain your eating habits and that's what we need to do if we want to be able to maintain our success.

Wishing you the best success at LCing.
Marlaine
