Default Coke

I just have a quick question.

I just saw someone in a previous post saying they were drinking vanilla coke?

I thought you couldn't drink any diet coke or pepsi max?
The only thing that I have been drinking is water but I sure wouldn't mind some coke.

Thanks

DIET COKE!!!!! Although I am sure that is what you meant! Some people say diet soda's slow them down, but they don't make any difference for me. If you have problems with the caffeine, try diet Sprite or other sf diet soda's. Of course though, water is ALWAYS the best choice. If you are new to this board, check it out often, always great tips and advice!

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. So does this mean I could drink any sugarfree drinks?

Pepsi Max is the diet version from Pepsi and what about Diet Coke with Lemon?

You would really make my day if you say I could have them..

Hello Pippaki:

It looks like you are doing impressively well with this plan! You must be doing it just as you should.

Some people do have a difficult time giving up their soda. Of course, water is the best choice (and lots of it!) Those that are able to make a switch drink Diet Rite, as it is caffeine free and made with Splenda/sucralose (preferred over aspartame).

Full caffeine beverages can trigger cravings for sweets and other high carbs. Most diet sodas contain aspartame, which causes many Atkins followers to slow down or even stall with their weightloss. Ultimately, the choice is yours. Best of luck to you now and in the future!

Pip, I drink sugar free soft drinks every day and it hasn't slowed my weight loss! I say go for it and see if it agrees with you (ie-if you still lose)

Sure, I say you can have them. I tried to limit them to one or two a day and the rest of the time drank water. I know a lot of people say this is a no-no during induction, but it didn't hurt me. I say try one if it will make this woe better for you. If it doesn't seem to slow your loss, them HOORAH!!!! If it does....back to the h2O!

Pippaki,
Lots of people drink Diet Coke or other diet sodas on this diet without problems. Many people choose to avoid sodas with aspartame (almost all diet sodas are sweetened with this) because of 1. the caffiene and 2. aspartame is said to stall a lot of people.

It's totally up to you. I drink 1 Diet Rite (a diet soda sweetened with Splenda) a day, except for maybe 2 days a week when I'll have a Diet Coke.

Hansens soda has diet versions as well, sweetened with Splenda. The Black Cherry is great! Very cheap at Trader Joes...

Don't believe you're supposed to have fruit on induction. If that's not correct, be sure to count the carbs in the lemon juice; one ounce is 1.98 carbs, per www.fitday.com

Good luck!

I have found that eating/drinking anything with aspartame slows my progress and makes me crave carbs. I really miss the pop, but I have come to really love water. I splurge about once a month..around times when I need it (PMS) etc.

Thanks a lot.

You really made my day.

I will have try a diet coke next week once I am off Induction. But this is good to know since I do miss sweets (especially chocolate, I used to eat about one pound of chocolate a day ) and I hope it will help me over the cravings especially at this TOM.

Thanks a lot.

I think it was actually my post where I said I drink diet vanilla coke...I think it is all about personal preference and how your body handles it...
