Default Atkins Bake Mix

searching through the forum, i've noticed that this atkins bake mix seems to be pretty popular stuff. i was just wondering where i could pick some up at, if there are any stores like GNC that might sell it or if the internet is the only place to find it. thanks. peace out.

Most of the "health food" stores in our areas are carrying the Atkins Mix as well as several other low carb brands. Somewhere in this section someone posted a "make your own" mix. Sorry but I don't remember where I put it when I printed it off.

You can find the bake mix, and a ton of other Atkins products on eBay. The bake mix runs $5-$8, depending on the seller.

Lightbulb Aktins Bake Mix substitute

ATKINS BAKE MIX SUBSTITUTE RECIPE

1 cup soy flour
2 cups soy protein isolate
2 tbsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp splenda

Sift together then store and use as you would Dr. A's.

The only thing I've tried to make with "atkins" in the name was a pizza crust and it was discusting... but the above combination of ingredients is pretty much whats in "the real thing"... and it works out much much cheaper. I bought them all in a health food store.

Happy cooking...

Krystine.

Try these waffles!!!! They are great!

Waffle Recipe

1 8 oz package cream cheese softened and whipped into a smooth consistency
3 eggs
3 tablespoons Splenda
½ cup bake mix (Atkins or home made)
½ tsp baking powder
¼ cup buttermilk (I just use heavy cream)

Put 1/8 cup of batter into the center portion of your waffle iron for each waffle. Makes a round and yummy waffle. Each waffle is approximately 1.2 carbs.

Beat until they have the same look as pancake mix. Add a little cream to thin if necessary.. These are great with a sugar free syrup. I use the Maple Grove Farms "Cozy Cottage" yummy at 4 carbs for a full 1/4 cup!

If you want to use them as a burger bun, cut back on the Splenda to 3 teaspoons, add garlic powder, onion powder, or whatever floats your boat!

Imagine these as burger buns, waffles, I made the waffles and put sliced fruit on it and home made whipped topping. WOW!!

I’m telling you try this recipe you wont regret it. Thanks to sherrielee from the lowcarbfriends.com board for this godsend!

For a delicious pizza crust, try the recipe below;

Egg crust:
4 ounces cream cheese
3 eggs
1/3 cup cream
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups shredded italian cheese blend

Beat together cream cheese and eggs until smooth.
Add cream, parmesan cheese, and spices. Blend well.
Sprinkle 2 cups italian cheeses into dish.
Pour egg mixture over it.
Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes.
Let stand for 5 minutes.

Topping:
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 cup of mozzarella cheese

Spread on pizza sauce.
Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
Pile crust with your favorite toppings.
Sprinkle with shredded parmesan cheese.
Return to oven and bake until bubbly and golden brown.
Allow to stand 10 minutes before cutting.

Recipe came from another message board. Not sure who to give credit to.

Kristine,

I use the bake mix substitute in everything that asks for the Atkins Bake Mix. Much cheaper and easy to keep! Thanks for spreading the word....
