Default not showing any ketones

I am almost through with my second week of induction, and I only have trace amounts of ketones. The most I have shown is small. I am truly staying under the 20g of carbs. What am I doing wrong? I had lost 3.5 pounds the first week, but then it showed a gain of 1.5. -AND then today I am down a total of 4 lbs since I started. Do I need to eat all 20g of carbs, and maybe more fat and protein. I have to force myself to eat as I am not hungry.
Another thing I have noticed it that I am very warm. Usually, I am the one who complains about the office being so cold, and at home I usually wrap an afghan around me, but now that is the opposite.

Any helpful hints.

Hi Fran,

Considering you only have a small amount to lose, a loss of 4 pounds during Induction is excellent. Well done!

Did you know that most of us can only expect to lose 10% of the weight we need to lose during Induction? You have lost 25% which means you are way ahead!

And being warm means that your metabolism has increased - you are burning fat! Great going!

The loss of appetite that often comes with Induction will soon pass. I wouldn't worry exactly how many carbs you are getting, as long as you are eating plenty of vegies. Vegies have many useful nutrients, as well as being a great source of fibre.

All the best.

Rosebud

Hi, I'd echo all that Rosebud said. And don't worry about not showing ketones. Some folk never do and lose fine. You could be burning up all the ones you're producing and so leave none to excrete.
You sound like you're doing very well - keep up the good work! Those reports of people losing tens of pounds in induction are often from people who have 100+ to lose - as Rosebud says, you lose a proportion of what you have to lose - so for you, that will be a small number in actual pounds.
Take care, Jay

Thanks for the information. I kind of thought that was happening- I still have great hopes and will continue on this for awhile. I am happy with myself and feel that I am following this the way I should.
One thing I am very happy about is that I am not craving- the girls at work eat chips and candy bars constantly and swear they are on a diet, and that the Atkins Diet is bad for you- but look at what they are putting in their mouths.
Oh well, I can only worry and control what I am doing.

Thanks again.
