I tried the One A Day Weight Smart, but there was not enough potassium in it, so I was waking up with cramps in my calves.

Now I take Centrum Performance
Magnesium (250mg twice a day)
Calcium Citrate (400mg twice a day)

I take 1 Centrum Silver, 2g buffered C with bioflavonoids by Universal Naturals, 1 Selenium by whatever brand I find (currently FDA), 1 E (also any brand), and 3 200mcg Chromium Piccolinate. And aminoacids.

Centrum Silver is awesome - I am not a senior citizen, but I love the antioxidants. Actually I started taking Centrum Silver when I was 16.

I notice a lot of people take flax seed oil supplements. Is that for regularity or does it have another health benefit I could be enjoying?

I hate to toss my giant bottle of One-A-Day Women's, but I might switch to the GNC brand without iron. Maybe I could scratch the "women's" off the label and get DH to use up the rest of them... ha!

Ilooked at my one a day weight control ingredients. They contain starch (many do as a filler) as well as gluclose.

In those small amounts should I keep taking them, or should I switch to something more pure? I do have a history of candidia so am worried about feeding that with yeasts or sugars. I did a check and found if I eliminate them from my diet I end up low on Iron, Folate, Thiamin and a couple of other fairly essential nutrients, so I will have to use something. Should I keep taking this multi for those nutrients, money is an issue, or should I start looking for others? I don't have a GNC close, so I can't use those.

Rite Aid has a Pharmasure brand that has no sugar or starch. I believe it's the equivilent of the GNC brand.

Someone mentioned a concern over too much iron intake as related to our low-carb lifestyle and vitamins. So I checked the Centrum I take daily and - sure enough - it contains 18mg (100% RDA) of iron. Should I be concerned by this? And if so, why (what does extra iron do/symptoms)?

Default Just in time!

I was just thinking of starting a thread on this! I am getting low on some stuff and just ran out of others and was wondering if I was going to have to go broke buying stuff.

What is really necessary?

I take
GNC Ultra Women's 2/day
GNC Big 50 Vitiman B Complex
1200 mg. Lethitin
200 Zinc
500 Magnesium
L-Carnetine (running low) should I re-purchase?
L-Glutemine
COQ10 (out) should I re-purchase?
1000 Fish oil
Green Tea Extract (out) should I re-purchase?
Calcium 1200 mg.
Chromium Pilconate 2x/day

Seems like something is missing though.
Should I repurchase the COQ10? It's terribly expensive.
Could I cut out some of what I am currently taking?

PeterPan,
I'm certainly no expert but I've never been a fan of taking more pills (of any kind!) than you absolutely need. Therefore, I stick with a multivitamin and calcium (at the recommendation of my gyno). All that other stuff is probably good for you, but if you're eating right (veggies and fruits and maybe some whole grains, if you're past Induction) and taking a multivitamin, you're probably getting what you need.

I have heard the L-Carnetine might be helpful though. It's completely up to you, but if you want to save money I'd ditch all the supplements and just take a multivitamin, calcium, maybe potassium, and maybe the L-Carnetine.

Hilary,

Thanks a bunch! I too am not a fan of trying to swallow a huge handful of giant pills every day! Not to mention what it does to the wallet!

Fishburg,

No I am sorry to say I did not make it. I do have a pattern for it however! Some day I will make it. It is beautiful! It is also the wallpaper on my home computer!
Quilting (and fabric) is my obsession.
It's a very rewarding hobby (obsession, WOL).

COQ10 is something Dr. Atkins recommends in his book. I went the first 3-4 weeks without it. Then took 1 bottle, and ran out about a week or so ago.
