Default heavy cream

Is heavy whipped cream the same as heavy cream? I'm trying to make the crustless quiche and I couldn't find any heavy cream at the store.

Also, is salsa and sour cream allowed on Induction?

And lastly can we take the low carb tortillas and fry them into taco shells?

Thanks for your replies.

The whipping cream that is in the refrigerator section with the milk, half n half is what you're looking for.

I bet you could do that with the tortillas. I've used them and fried them inserted the stuff after flipping and then folded it over it for a burrito type. They brown well and I like a bit of crunch, so I bet you could do that or if you had the taco thing to put in the oven, that would work I bet. Let us know how that goes.

heavy cream and whipping cream are more or less the same and allowed. Half and Half is NOT allowed.

Salsa and sour cream are allowed but measure your salsa, tomatoes are allowed but in very little moderation during induction.

If you can find "Green Salsa" or "Salsa Verde", that would be a better choice.

It's made with tomatillos instead of tomatoes and is much lower in carbohydrate.

Trader Joe's has a great Green Salsa.

Here is another thing to do with LC tortillas, toast them in the toaster oven and top them with LC pizza sauce ( I just use a bit of the lowest carb pasta sauce I can find) and your favorite toppings and put back in the oven until all bubbly. This is the best sub I have found for pizza!

For nearly carb-free taco shells that are legal on Induction, take a slice of cheese (I've found provolone works the best) and just fry it by itself in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. When it gets brown on the bottom, take it off the heat for a minute to cool, then flip it over with your fingers or a spatula and fry the other side.

You end up with a crispy chip-like thing. Before it cools, you can shape it into a taco shell (it'll harden as it cools) or wait til it's hard and break into chips.

Sounds crazy, but this is pretty good. I eat these chips with seasoned ground beef, tomatoes, sour cream and other taco fixings.

Default Cream Cheese Salsa

I found a cream cheese salsa that is yummy. It has the salsa flavor and a few tomatoes and such... but lower in carbs and great with pork rinds. I'm trying to decide how much of it I can get away with eating before I should feel guilty.

Exclamation How much cream in a day?

My husband is starting to 'diet' with me. He wants me to buy enough cream so he can drink it like milk. I figured out the calories in a small carton to be 740 calories!

If he even drinks one a day.. that seems excessive. Is that at all reasonable? of should I find a way to keep the cream intake a bit lower?

thanks!
Nan

Default heavy cream is not a carb bargain

I would discourage that.... heavy cream has 1 carb per Tablespoon, so I imagine a glass would have oh... maybe 60 carbs or more. hhmmmm... I think that heavy cream is allowed on Atkins since it's so satifying in coffee or as a topping whipped with Splenda, but definitely NOT to drink!

During induction cream is limited to I think 2 Tbsp. If he is desperate for a glass of milk, he can mix his two tablespoons with water to dilute and get a somewhat of a milk. If he drinks an entire carton not only would he be getting an excessive amount of calories, but quite a few carbs as well.
