Default Nightmares about cheating?

Is anyone else having nightmares about messing up on the diet? I have had 3 or 4 now......Last nights "cheat-mare" was all about me eating an Oatmeal Cream Pie.......I was all mad at myself in the dream.

Yep, I've had 4 now - 4 months into Atkins. Maybe its my subconscience mind keeping me on plan? I get to eat and then experience the guilt, all without cheating.

Yeah, I have those dreams, too. It's a funny thing, because most of the time I have no cravings for the things I eat in my dreams. Like after months of having no sugar or white flour, I'll dream of eating a donut. Then in the dream I always am like "Damn, I messed up. Might as well eat other forbidden things" and I keep eating. Maybe you're right, maybe it is a subconcious way of being allowed to cheat, since my mind knows I'm serious about not having that stuff.

Default Cheating nightmare

I guess I'm not alone. The other night I was furious with myself for eating potato chips. I don't even like them! It seemed so real but when I woke up, I thought I should've cheated with something I love.
Sorta like the brownies my husband requested for his munchie last night. Now those are really hard to have around! Will Power is being tested now, but he'll have them polished off before long and my craving will end then. lol Lynne

Oh, yes, seven weeks into this WOE I've had several "cheating" nightmares. I agree with Parasite -- I think the nightmares keep me on track because I wake up SO happy that I didn't really do it (but strangely satisfied that I did get to "eat" in my dream)! Luckily, I've noticed that these dreams have been happening less and less lately. Maybe it's just a phenomenon that occurs early in the WOE while your body adjusts to it.

Happy low carbing!

Lynne,
If you're craving brownie-type goodies, I recommend trying the "molten chocolate cake" recipe on the Atkins website. They are fabulous and portion-controlled to boot. Probably not great for Induction though.

I once had an amazingly real dream about eating a Snickers Bar (I lived on them in college). I woke up with major sugar cravings, though. It was so real and it was so good. I went out and cheated on my diet.
I haven't had another dream like that but if I do I hope it works for me like it did for all of you.

Thanks Hilary, I was eyeing those and wondered if they were good. I'm kinda in the second stage 6 wks into the diet so I really wouldn't be cheating, right??? lol

I have dreamed about eating chocolate and in my dream they made me sick. I think it is a subconcious way of staying on track.

Wow, I thought I was the weird one...lol.

I tell my DH about the dreams in the morning and he looks at me like I am crazy! I have these dreams about 1x a week, and they seem to keep me in line. I dream about all kinds of foods!

Well, I feel better now!

How funny, the other night I had a dream I kept sneaking bites of wedding cake at a church...when there wasn't wedding cake there were other cakes sitting around. I think it was the night I watched the "top 5 decadent desserts" on the food channel with my daughter and wedding cakes were one of them.... too funny!

I have been watching the food channel lately also, looking for things I can change into Low Carb. Last night I also had a nightmare that I ate a peice of cake. I can still taste how good it was too!! But I've been good since I started the diet. These dreams really are disturbing though!!
