Question What do you guys do with sour cream?

What can I do with sour cream? The counts seem a lil better than mayo (which I put on EVERYTHING)...what do you guys do with sour cream? Toppings or dressings?

I cook with it mostly. Makes good "creamy" sauces and dishes. Creamy tuna and mushrooms yum! I made a meatloaf and as a topper sauted mushrooms and onions then cooked in salsa and cream cheese. A thick, cramy tomato like sauce-- yum! I've made pancakes with it too. I've posted all the recipes in my journal if you want to cruise through. Also, spread it on celery-- or pepperoni!

Default Thanks and congrats!

Thanks for the reply, I was starting to feel guilty about using mayo so much I wonder how it would taste in egg salad instead of mayo...I suppose I shall try! Congrats on your weight loss, and I also hopped over to your journal and am having fun reading it Have a great day!

Question

Why do you feel guilty about using mayo? It's almost carb free and tastes so good!

I make a sauce with equal parts sour cream and mayo and both yellow and dijon mustard - heat it carefully in the microwave so it doens't curdle. Really yummy on poached eggs or with beef. (My mom started making this because we didn't like the lemony flavor of hollindase when we were kids - you could probably put it on anything you'd use that for).

I have always loved sour cream. There is something about it that seems almost sinful. Sometimes I just take about 2 Tablespoons and add a little splenda and eat it as a dessert. It kills cravings for me. A few blueberries or strawberries stirred in is also very tasty. My husband thinks I am insane. I have never bought (or even seen) any of the Davinci syrups but I suppose some of that stirred in would be good too.

Okay, I'm an idiot! I know you said sour cream but in my mind I saw "Cream Cheese." Yes, I must have suffered a mild stroke! No, don't spread sour cream on celery OR pepperoni. Wait . . .that might be good . . .hmmm . . . Anyway, I still do use sour cream in cooking (although I use cream cheese more). Sorry! Ignore me!

Smile Cindy's Favorit Steak Sauce...

My best friend makes the best steak sauce in the world. Mix equal portions of sour cream and horseradish to make Cindy's Favorite Steak Sauce. It is wonderful on grilled steak or steak fondue or however you are eating it!

Cindy is very fond of horseradish. YMMV Adjust the amount up or down, depending on your personal preference.

I eat a blob of it with 1 oz of crispy bacon bits and chopped green onion...I like it as it is, but you can top some mashed cauliflower and it's sort like potato.

Fajitas! taco salad, cheesecake

Make fajitas and eat like a stirfry. Top with sour cream and guacamole.

Same with taco salad. Make your own taco seasoning on some ground meat, maybe add black soy beans depending on the stage, then topp lettuce. Add guacamole, sour cream and salsa instead of dressing.
