Default Ketone strips

Maybe this has been covered before but does anyone use these ketone strips? I just bought some from Hi-Health. They are made by a company called Uriscan. These strips measure mg of Ketones. Creme color is 5 mg and dark maroon is 100 mg. I can't find anything anywhere that states at what level you should be at during Induction. Any help?

Hi, any level is good on Atkins, darker does not neccessarily mean better. It could mean you are dehydrated.

hi, i just bought my first stixs too, and so far i have figured out i only change color at certain times a day. so u might want to experiment and don't get discouraged.....they were very encouraging for me since it took me 3 weeks to lose 4lbs (which i jsut found out i lost right now) and the stix kept me very motivated, it is jsut wonderful to know that even if you aren't losing weight you are burning fat...good luck ...any chnage is all you need on the stix

Thanks for the replies and I also found the article about sticks under low carb tips. How much did everyone pay? I paid 10 bucks for 100.

$7.99 is awesome; I'm jealous. I usually check eBay for EVERYTHING, but was in a hurry to get my stix so I didn't this time. I ended up going to the Eckerd pharmacy around the corner, where I paid $34 for a bottle of 100.

Now I feel really stupid b/c I didn't know they weren't SUPPOSED to be that expensive.

Ebay.com and type in Atkins or ketone sticks to find them. I believe I found mine just by typing in Atkins. And I think I bought them from the same person Dustin did because mine were the same price his were, $8 for 100.

Hey Dustin:
I also got mine at Walmart and it was only $13.99 for 100 - what is the deal with that? I can't believe there would be such a huge difference in price for the same amount!!! Mine was the Bayer brand. Now, I do admit that Atkins is not very popular in my isolated town (however, we must be the obese capitol of the world).

The reason they may be doing this is they are showing dietary fat being burned, not your fat. The best thing to do is test first thing in the morning before you have eaten. Changes later in the day may reflect diet, not ketosis.

I found some at walmart in the diabetics section. They were the same price as the metabostix, but contained 50 n ot 25. If they slap a "diet" aid lable on things they can auto charge twice as much or more these days :P

Default Cost of strips

I purchased a bottle at CVS for $12.99 for 50 then I was at Costco's and found them there for $7.29!!
I can't get the sticks to turn dark purple ... I've been staying at what is called the moderate range on me. It's still Ketosis. I suppose if I wanted to lose faster I would have to lower my carbs further than the 20 I'm staying on now, but I think that would be just silly. I know I'm losing even if it's not reflected on the scale regularly. Eventally it will!
