Question Stay on Induction or move on? How much weight have you lost after going on to OWL?

I mean, does it come off a *lot* slower? About how many pounds a week, not including stalls? (which I understand happen to just about everyone)

I'm trying to decide, now that my two weeks are over, if I want to try and stay on a plan more like Induction or if I want to try more of the recipies on here and graduate to something more resembling OWL...

Hi Sango, we have similar stats so maybe I can help. I have a little list of my weights, maybe it'll show some semblance of what can happen. Just an example.

2-Oct 160.000 -Start induction
20-Oct 149.500
27-Oct 147.000 -Start OWL
10-Nov 145.500
14-Nov 144.500
1-Dec 143.000
13-Dec 141.000 -Ate a little wrong during the holidays
5-Jan 139.500 -back to induction 1/1
7-Jan 139.000
8-Jan 137.500
12-Jan 136.500

And I've yo-yoed from 136 (current weight this morning!) to about 142 in the past 6 months during OWL. I don't really consider it a stall since I lost inches, fell off the wagon, and am really near goal weight.

So yeah, you can lose pretty decently on OWL, I think. I wasn't very strict about it, it's all up to you.

Hope that helps a tiny bit.

I've got to say I'm afraid to move on to OWL! I'm staying on induction for the time being. I weighed 158 when I started out on June 14th and am currently down to 147, so I'll just hang in there a bit longer until I'm sure I won't go overboard adding carbs.

I stayed at 20g of carbs, but allowed some non induction foods in. Currently I am trying to raise my carb level to 30g. I also added in a ton of walking though, so the new activity level has something to do with it. I have been losing steadily though, and even better then before. I do expect a sort of ministall though here around 155 as I weighed that for a very long time and I think my body may try to settle in here where it is comfortable. I am prepared for it though and will just keep doing what I have been until things resume

Things I have added back in
Nuts as only an occasional treat
many more veggies
1/2 cup of whole milk yogurt each day
1/4 cup blueberries or strawberries every few days
Designer whey protien
Coffee
Occasional LC convience foods or treats such as LeCarb Icecream today.

I think one thing that definetly helps is I never have more then 1 LC convience food a day, and most days I have none.

i'm debating it too. started on june 7th and have lost 9lbs (certainly gets slower when you're older!). i was sort of thinking i'd stay in induction until i hit 160...judging it by weight rather than by time.

I am staying at 20-30 carbs/day because I am impatient and don't want to lose the weight slowly. I like the quick results-they keep me motivated. I like hearing about my results from others-it makes me feel good. And I also like shopping for progressively smaller clothes. Not to mention I have entirely too far to go to go on owl now and slow down even more-the stalls are bad enough.

I moved to OWL after 2 weeks on Induction because I wanted to lift weights and I just couldn't sustain it on <20 carbs/day. I didn't lose a lot on Induction though, I think because I stepped down my carbos for two weeks before "formally" starting Atkins. So I may have lost the water gradually before the official diet start.

Now at about 45 carbs/day. At 50 carbs I started to get cravings, which had not bothered me previously, so I pulled back to 40-45 and have been very happy with it for 2 months. I've been losing ~6lbs/month even with various TOM weirdnesses and their accompanying water fluctuations. My main focus is on making sure it NEVER comes back, so I don't mind if it goes off slowly.

I have alot to lose, so I think staying on Induction is the best bet for me.

Hmm...I think for now I will probably stay pretty close to induction-level carbs, and just introduce a few non-induction foods like nuts and some of the keto products. If that doesn't seem to be working for me, I may reconsider ^_^

Staying on induction is a matter of choice. My DH chose to go to the the next phase. I on the other hand didn't have a problem staying on induction with the exception of eating nuts, sf candy once or twice a week (one or two pieces), low carb beer. But I keep my carb intake at 20 sometimes 16 and other times 22. Never much more then that. (Once since Feb. I ate 3/4 cup of cooked rice) (it was good, that was my only cheet since Feb.

I'm so thrilled to have seen the fat just melt off of me since Feb. 3. 39 pounds in all, I feel like a new woman. I thought about going to phase two, but want to get to 128 before I do, my goal is 125, but if I can get to 128 and go up to phase two I want to use 130 as knowing STOP go back down. But I really want to reach 125.

the charts say I could go as low as 115, but face it, I'm 40 years old and I have large breast no matter what my weigh is, I'm already in a size 7/8 I'd look silly being a size 3 with large breast. So my goal is 125 I think for 5 feet 2 and my size that would be a happy weight.

I still stick to around 20 carbs per day, I don't like salad so eat lots more cooked veggies than Atkins recommends on Induction as well as the occasional wine.

I am afraid to go above 20 carbs a day until I am below 200 lbs!!! Last time I did Adkins I got down to 220 lbs started to increase my carbs and went crazy!!! Here a carb, there a carb, every where a carb carb!! I was eating low carb foods but too many of them and lost it!!

All I am saying is do it slowly and watch your body (inches and lbs). You are having a great start just ease into high levels of carbs.

Good Luck!!

I eat 40 grams a day and I`m glad that I do because I won`t gain weight too easily when I hit pre-maintenance and maintenance.

My plan is to stay well under 20 carbs until/unless I hit a stall, then up my carbs to 20-25. From personal experience, my body doesn't need a lot of carbs to gain weight, so I'll be very cautious in testing my transition to OWL. I have started adding nuts and avocados into my diet now...while still staying well-below 20 carbs/day, as I need to raise my HDL cholesterol. My guess is that I won't even think about OWL until I am within 10-15 pounds of my goal weight.
