Default The metallic taste

Hi - just wondering how many people have the metallic taste around their back teeth during ketosis. I still don't have the strips, but I definately have the taste, I was about to go to the dentist, but then I noticed someone else mentioned the metal taste.

Cheers,
Greg

The taste in my mouth is not so much metallic, but kind of dry and pasty feeling. It's like there's a coating in my mouth. It's not from dehydration, since I drink between 2 and 4 liters of water a day, plus other beverages. Heh - the dry mouth is probably WHY I drink so much water!

It's a great feeling, isn't it!

Joan

I must be a weird one---I have no taste at all, but pink/purple sticks.

Back when I had lots of GI trouble (years ago) I always had a metallic taste in my mouth and not one Dr could understand why. Nobody ever even tested me for ketosis either.

I'm kinda glad I don't have the taste though, it was pretty awful at times. But I do love ketosis!!!

Can you tell the scale is finally budging for me? YIPPEEEEE
Me SOOOO Happy!!!

I initially had the same problem- it helps if you drink alot of water. The more water I drink in a day the lesser the taste for me. I do drink a large amount of water during the day and don't notice it as much.I drink 8 24oz of bottled water a day

The metallic taste is normal on this diet (often accompanied by some pretty bad breath). With this as an indicator, who needs ketosis strips to verify the condition? lol

I have the metallic taste and a feeling like the very beginning of a sore throat, I find it's always strongest first thing in a morning and not so bad after my first 2 litres of water.

BINGO for me, too!! TIN MOUTH LOL This is actually a good "indicator" for me. I know I am doing well, when I taste like I licked a dog food can lid. I get the "creepings" of a sore throat, also but it goes away after about the 2nd liter of water.

Tee hee....but my icon's allowed dog food--and you're not!!!

Just how much dog food have you been eating anyway???

Hey, how sad is it..... we weigh about the same and have the same goals. Talk about making my day depressed!!

Hmmmm, maybe if I incorporate some Alpo into my diet.............

Have a great day!!

Well, I'll just say that when you use Atkin's mix, one thing I learned is that it pretty much tastes like dog food. OUCH!! My Youkshire pudding turned out to be sponge bob bread. So, I doused it with some splenda and cinnamon. Then, I still had the tin flavor. however, tin taste goes away if it is used as a breading for fried chicken. Heck, I do not know why this tin taste comes into play, anyway. yes, Ketosis, and all that . . . BTW I do prefer kibbles and bits.

Watch out for those bits......

I tried the pork rinds as a coating for my chicken this past week. YUM YUM!!! Smash em up real fine, add some italian seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic powder--dip the chicken in heavy cream, coat it with the crumbs and then fry it in good old butter. Oh mannnnnn...orgasmic I tell ya!!

Did I just say that--- YES I DID!!!

LMAO BT dude. Great description I don't think I will be trying this anytime soon. I use pork rinds as a coating on my chicken too. It is yummy.
