Thumbs up Thursday and Body Pump

A good session. Gill was away, Ray took the class. Some interesting variations!

I kept with 5 kg weights throughout increasing them to 7 kg for the chest track. I used hand weights for the squat and shoulder track - 1.5 kg each. It is certainly getting easier, so might try more 7 kg tracks next week.

Booked in for next week.

Thumbs up Thursday and Pilates

Again stayed on after Body Pump to do the Pilates session.

This week it was a lot easier as the movements were more familiar. I think it will get easier over the next few weeks as you get used to doing the breathing and holding your stomach in whilst doing the slow movements.

Booked in for next week, but Lisa will be away for the next 3 weeks. Must find out who we are having.

Default Saturday and Aquafit

Had a really good session, felt I really worked the muscles.

No time to relax in the spa afterwards.

Will be away next week, so can't go. Then the pool is being closed for 2 weeks for maintenance work. So will have to find something else to do on the weekend.

Did not really feel like going today. Worked OK, but did not put 100% effort into this.

Lisa Will be away for the next few weeks. Good job I can't go next weekend. Suspect if Sue is taking the classes I will miss out on any that are happening when the pool is not closed.

Thumbs up Saturday and Aquafit

Well, have not been to aquafit for a fortnight as last week was the Brownie weekend. Inbetween I've not been to any other classes either because of the Brownie weekend and last week my bruised knee.

Had a good session. Pleased that my knee did not play up. Did not get out of breath, but did feel tired at the end.

Relax in the spa afterwards for a short while.

The pool is closing on Monday for 2 weeks for repairs, so will need to do other activites for the next 2 weekends. Have booked into to go tomorrow.

Thumbs up Sunday and Aquafit

Today Vicky took the class. It was her first aquafit session. She was pretty good and we worked quite hard, but not as hard as with Lisa and Becky. Enjoyed the session. Water was cold again, but not quite as bad as yesterday.

Found out that one of the group goes to the same church as where I take my Brownies for Church Parade and knows the lady who used to run them before I moved here.

The pool is closed from tomorrow for 2 weeks for repairs. I hope that it will not be longer.

Thumbs up Back to the Gym

Well the last time I went to the gym was on 1 April and now it is 1 July. Not good and no excuses either.

So today I did 30 minutes on the treadmill. Was very pleased as have never done that much before. The 30 mins was broken up as follows:

5 min at 4.0 kph
2 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.0
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.0
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.0
1 min at 4.5
8 min at 4.0

I wore my heart monitor and it said I had an average heart rate of 119 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 28 minutes and used 206 calories. Was pleased with what I did. Might try to have another walk on Thursday before the bodypump class.

Thumbs up Thursday and Body Pump

After missing two weeks I was back at the class today. Gill was back too.

Did not feel 100%, my head felt funny after a massive sneeze I had had mid afternoon! Anyway, did the session with 4 kg weights throughout. I used hand weights for the squat and shoulder track - 1.5 kg each. Found it quite tough going. We did lots of new tracks - version 46 -. Well, they were not quite so new as realised that Ray had done many of them with us when he took the class.

Booked in for next week.

Thumbs up Saturday at the Gym

No Aquafit today, the pool is closed for repair, so went to the gym instead.

I did another 30 minute session on the treadmill. Slightly different mix from last time, mainly quicker. The 30 mins was broken up as follows:

5 min at 4.1 kph
2 min at 4.5
3 min at 4.1
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.1
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.1
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.1
5 min at 3.5
I wore my heart monitor and it said I had an average heart rate of 120 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 27.75 minutes and used 199 calories. Want to try to do the same tomorrow, Sunday.

Thumbs up Tuesday at the Gym

I did another 30 minute session on the treadmill. One bit quicker than last time. The 30 mins was broken up as follows:

5 min at 4.1 kph
2 min at 4.6 - Up 0.1 kph
3 min at 4.1
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.1
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.1
1 min at 4.5
4 min at 4.1
5 min at 3.5
I wore my heart monitor and it said I had an average heart rate of 120 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 26.26 minutes and used 193 calories.

As this was slightly less than last time it seems to indicate that my stamina is slowly improving. It will be interested to see what happens next time, this weekend.

Smile Thank You

Anne

I was reading your gym journal and you have really inspired me! I have been on Atkins for 10 days and lost 7 pounds. I go to the gym and on the treadmill I only do 10 minutes! I do a cardio workout but I might try walking a little slower and not up such a big hill. My heart rate gets up really high. I do other machines but find it really hard to do the cardio. When I read that you do a half an hour, well, you have given me a new goal and have inspired me to stick with it.

Good luck and keep up the good work.

Thumbs up Gym on Sunday

I did another 30 minute session on the treadmill. I did quite a few things different than last time. I can see that my stamina is improving and that after only 4 sessions back at the gym I am having to work a lot harder to use the same amount of calories. I'm really pleased with my progress which is so much better than when I started back even a year ago.

The 30 mins was broken up as follows:
3 min at 4.1 kph
3 min at 4.6 - Up l min
3 min at 4.1
2 min at 4.6 - Up l min and 0.1 kph
3 min at 4.1
2 min at 4.6 - Up l min and 0.1 kph
3 min at 4.1
2 min at 4.6 - Up l min and 0.1 kph
3 min at 4.1
1 min at 4.6 - New
5 min at 3.5

I wore my heart monitor and it said I had an average heart rate of 114 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 24.24 minutes and used 170 calories.

Thumbs up Thursday and Body Pump

Missed last weeks class after falling and banging my knee.

Before the class today I did 15 minutes on the treadmill, 12 minutes at 4.2 and 3 minutes at 3.5 kph. 4.2 kph is pretty fast for me and I found out that that equates to about 6.0 kph on an average hight person by seeing what the person was doing next to me.

Did the session with 5 kg weights throughout. I used hand weights for the squat and shoulder track - 1.5 kg each. Found it quite tough going, particularly towards the end. Think I may have taken to much out of me beforehand with the treadmill. Next time might try doing the treadmill afterwards.

Booked in for next week.

Thumbs up Saturday and Aquafit

Glad to be back at aquafit today as it is two weeks since we last had a class, the pool being closed for repairs.

Had a good session. The water was quite cold. Felt pretty tired before I went and kept yawning during the session. So did not put in 100% effort.

Relax in the spa afterwards for a short while.

Booked in for next week.

Thumbs up Gym on Sunday

Started off by doing 2 of the weight machines.

Leg Press - 2 slow sets of 20 at 130 kg
Leg Press - 2 quick sets of 20 at 130 kg
Abductor - 2 slow sets of 20 at 25 kg
Abductor - 2 quick sets of 20 at 25 kg

When I last did this in March I was at 140 kg for the leg press and 40 kg for the abdctor. Found the abductor real easy at 25 kg.

Then I did 35 minute session on the treadmill. I did quite a few things different than last time.

The 30 mins was broken up as follows:
3 min at 4.2 kph - Up 0.1 kph
3 min at 4.7 - Up 0.1 kph
3 min at 4.2 - Up 0.1 kph
2 min at 4.7 - Up 0.1 kph
3 min at 4.2 - Up 0.1 kph
2 min at 4.7 - Up 0.1 kph
4 min at 4.2 - Up 0.1 kph
10 min at 3.5 with 4% gradient
5 min at 3.5

I wore my heart monitor and it did not register any calories used during the leg press and abductor spells. Said I had an average heart rate of 107 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 32.35 minutes and used 223 calories.
