Question Fitday vs Food Label????

This is my first post out here and I have a question about Fitday. Comparing the fitday carb counts to the label carb counts they are different? Is it I may be missing something here?? When I run into this I just use the label info. instead. But I have noticed Fitday is high on their carbs compared to the labels?? If anyone can give me some advise about this that would be great!! Also just wanted to say hi I have been lurking for a couple of months now and finally decided to take the plunge into to this new woe 5 days ago!! I have gained so much great info from reading these boards!! A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!!

Default Hi Resha

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice regarding fitday because I can't even figure the wretched site out I think it might be easier to use labels and a good counting book. I wish you luck in trying to figure it out. I'm not sure I'll try it again. Take care.

Assuming you're looking at the same serving size on fitday that your package gives you, I would say go with the package. Fitday uses "normal" examples, but your particular item may have more or less of some ingredient that affects the totals. If it's something you use alot, you can click on "customize this food" and make the adjustments.

I think fitday uses the average of a couple of different brands when determining nutritional info.

Fitday gives ME fits sometimes!

It sometimes disagrees with me when I attempt to enter a custom food.

Geez, I'm just reading the label, for heaven's sake!!

Makes you wonder just how accurate the food labels really are!

BTW, yes, I'm very careful re: serving size, etc. when entering the info.

Argh.

But all in all, a great tool for me!

Thanks so much for your replies!! Even if there is some discrepencies on fitday compared to labels I am finding it a great tool to keep me on track!! And believe me I need all the help I can get!! What most amazes me is the calories that is exciting in itself to see what I was consuming for calories and to now. Again thanks guys!!

Different brands may have different carb amounts. If it's way off, I'll enter it in as a custom food. Be careful though. Some products already subtract fiber from the overall carb count.
