Question Can we have juice at all?

We really miss having a glass of Tropicana Pure Premium juice (the real stuff not concentrate) in the morning - is there an alternative or can I begin to introduce it again. Any thoughts from anyone would be most welcome and appreciated.

About us: My boyfriend and I just finished two weeks of induction on Atkins's. I have to admit I was getting tired of the selections but that is because time is a factor for us so being creative is tough. However we are still commited and we have both lost 5 lbs each. We have not done any real exercise yet and that will begin this coming week. We both wanted to lose between 15-20 each and then start the next phases. I think we'll introduce nuts pretty soon though. It is nice not being hungry on the plan although its hard to eat on the run which is what we used to do. (Hence the nuts will be a handy snack)

Anyway, I am totally impressed with all the comments and postings - it is a nice supportive culture on here. I am reinspired!

When I did WW I always started the morning with a glass of OJ. I am on Day 5 of Induction and I drink about a quart of water with my brekky. I can really tell the difference in getting myself hydrated as soon as possible.

I definitely suggest water, but if that is not do-able try some Tangerine Diet Rite.

The lowest juice in carbs is tomato juice. Orange juice is loaded.

You might wanna try V-8 Splash Diet. It has a few flavors like tropical and strawberry and only like 3 carbs per serving.

Unhappy Good-bye OJ

The only near-substitutes I've found are sugarfree Tang or Keto brand Ket-oj. Orange juice is WAY up at the top of the glycemic index, in fact we're trained to give oj to diabetics to bring their blood sugar up as fast as possible when they've had too much insulin... I don't know of any low carb plan that lets you have it.

The good news is that it's possible to "re-train" your body and you won't miss it so much forever!

Some good snacks I've found are beef jerky (read the label, though, as some are loaded with suger!) string cheese, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and a limited number per week of low-carb bars such as Advantage or Keto.

Hi there.....

The reason that juice is not recommended is that it is a concentration of fruit sugars and calories...therefore carbs. You'd really be much better off drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water a day. In the almost two years I've been LCing, I've gone from drinking about 4 pots of coffee a day, to one cup in the morning and then water for the rest of the day. I drink between 4-6 liters of water a day. (Close to 4-6 quarts.)

I drink FruitH2O. It is a flavored water with Splenda. For Breakfast I like the Tangerine one. I liked Tropicana OJ too so this helps me.

I also miss drinking a glass of calcium infused Tropicana OJ. It was the only way I really got my calcium. I'm having difficulty finding alternatives other than cheese and some awful tasting vegetables (kelp). I refuse to take a calcium supplement. Anyway, I drink fruit2o as a substitute for juice.
