Default Whats too many shakes???

Ok, I experimented with making shakes with strawberry flavored whey protein yesterday and OMG!! They are so good.
My son (who is also LCing) also loved them.
We each had 2 yesterday. One for breakfast with some
macadamia nuts and one for snack in the evening (no macs)
Its been hot here lately, so they went down really good.

I told my son, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to
replace shakes for meals all the time because we still
need 'real food'. Here is how I made them.
I would love an opinion on how often we should have
shakes, should we not worry or should we????
Thanks in advance!!!

Suzie & Colby (16)

water
ice
4 fresh strawberries
1 scoop whey protein powder (4 carbs)
approx 1/4 cup manufacturers cream (no carbs)
splenda to taste

I don't know how much is too much unless you notice your weight loss slowing down..than whatever you are consuming is too much.

too much for me would be more than one a day. If I have more than one "serving" of splenda a day I get the runs BAD!!!

Domus,
Funny you say that. I have been experiencing the same thing
lately. Very loose stools (sorry). Weird because just a week
or so ago I was having the opposite (really backed up).
I was wondering what was causing this. Also, have been
a little gassy after not having gas since starting LCing
3/10/03. Could it be from splenda?? I don't cheat so I dont
know where its coming from????

Just make sure you eat your mandatory 2-3 cups of veggies and then just see how your body reacts.

This really has to be a personal experience for all of us and I think we all go through different favorites phases.

Manufacturers Cream is just that, cream. It is wonderful.
We use it in our cafes to make whip cream.
It says 0 carbs for 1 tblsps. I quit using half & half & replaced
it with this. We purchase it from the local dairy.

StallQueen, I will have to check out the Precison Iso Pro Whey.
Of course I have a HUGE container of the Pro-Rated!!!

0 carbs per servings means up to .9 carb each serving so beware.

It's the protien powder it self that causes the gas for me, I don't use slpenda in mine, just water, cream, strawberries or blueberries, raw fresh egg, ice cubes. Sure enough, about 10 min after I have a Huge Belch
It does that even if I use nothing but powder and water.

Yes they are o.k. to supplement, but do not use them for a meal replacement, unless it's the specific one for that, most that have 3 carbs or less are not ment to be used that way and it will interrupt this woe/weight loss. You need you full days allotment of real food still.

Good Luck Kathy

Atkins recomended only 1 shake or bar a day, but I think that was to encourage eating whole foods. The also don't have all the nutrician of a full meal.
