Default Best Time To Exercise????

When is the best time ?

After a protein breakfast...or before a protein breakfast?

For me...I need to exercise in the morning, or whenever I get up and have my coffee and breakfast.

I can't much do it in the afternoon.

Any ideas?

thanks...sia

Well, I don't think anybody could call me the exercise king...but I am told that the best time is first thing in the morning, before breakfast. I speeds up your metabolism for the rest of the day.

I agree with Robert (and do it that way myself). I just re-read Protein Power and they advise to exercise on an empty stomach followed by a high-protein meal. They also say that you should wait an hour after exercise to eat.

If you are following Atkins diet he says in his book don't exercise on a empty stomach. But don't eat 1 hr before light exercise or 2 hrs before strenuous exercise.

I'm not sure on the reasoning exactly on this but it's what his latest book says under the exercise and Atkins section.

Default Hmmmmmmmmm

I'm not sure I understand this statement...

But don't eat 1 hr before light exercise or 2 hrs before strenuous exercise.

Isn't this an empthy stomach?

There is a sticky at the top of the general exercise forum all about A.M. Cardio on an empty stomach. Apparently, exercising before you eat in the morning will help you burn more fat all day long.

But, the best time for you to exercise in when you are going to do it. If you can't do it in the morning, do it when you can.

I think that the statement means that you shouldn't workout first thing in the morning considering your body has been without food for 8 whole hours and it could mean your body turning to muscle for energy because it is in a fast mode. So there is a difference between that and waiting after a meal to eat. But hey that is just my view on things.

Personally i do a bit of both. Elihnig is right, whenever is the best time for you is the right time.
